"Let me guess, you want us to go wait outside the school so Magneto can break in here?" Steve says crossing his arms as he looks at me suspiciously. All the unsurfaced anger I've seen is flooding up and I can't hold it in anymore, I don't think I want to.
"I haven't done anything bad to you Steve! The x-men lied to all of us, your hatred of me is unnecessary and is probably just brought up because you feel like shit for what you planned, but guess what, it's not my fault that you and Natasha are every bit as manipulative and cruel as Mystique and Magneto were, maybe stop judging me and look in a fucking mirror" I snap, my face turning red and my fists clenching. Peter gasps from behind me and Henry chuckles quietly.
"You tell him, girl" Clover says.
There's silence for a few seconds as Steve stares at me in shock, he doesn't say anything. I don't have time to fight with Steve, he can stay here if he's all that concerned about Magneto breaking in, I'm not letting Magneto do this.
"I'm sure about this, Tony, I promise" I say, turning to face him. I turn back to face Peter, he wordlessly nods. I can't explain how I figured it out, but I am certain that this is Magneto's next move, he is coming here and if we don't stop him, a lot of innocent children could get hurt or killed. Not to mention all the teachers and parents who may run in to try and reach their children.
"I believe her" Tony says, not looking at Steve even though it's obvious he's talking to him. "She grew up there." I remember Peter saying Tony has barely spoken to Steve or Natasha since everything was revealed.
"What do we do Mr. Stark?" Peter asks, looking anxiously at his mentor. "MJ and Ned are going to pull the fire alarm and try to get everyone away; I need to go and get them out." I nod in agreement, MJ and Ned need to get as far away as they physically can, though I don't think there is a safe distance from Magneto, even another planet probably wouldn't be far enough.
"The four of you are staying here, we don't need to be worried about what you're doing, all our attention has to be on Magneto" Fury says, walking into the room with Natasha, Wanda, Clint, and Thor. I look down at the ground when Natasha looks over at me, this is not the ideal time to have a conversation. Besides, she clearly doesn't care about me, she isn't my mother.
"Absolutely not!" Peter exclaims.
"No way!" I say at the same time. I'm not sitting here when I could be out there helping people get to safety or fighting the x-men.
"You're going to want our skills when dealing with Magneto. Storm can get the bomb far away, Peter is spider-man, Clover is a good fighter, and I can move things with my minds" Henry points out. I nod in agreement, Henry and I have also been taught how to fight, we can make a difference.
"He's right, we need the kids" Natasha says, glancing at Fury. "We've all seen what Storm and Peter can do, Henry has had all the same training as Storm and has powers, and we know Clover is good with weapons, she almost took down Mystique." My eyes flicker to Clover, I don't understand why she came with me, fighting Mystique was dangerous, she could've been killed. Clover had no reason to come with me, why did she?
"Okay, we'll devise a plan quickly before heading off" Fury replies, his eye landing on mine. Fury and the rest of the avengers walk over to the other side of Tony's lab. Peter is typing frantically on his phone and Henry is watching the avengers.
"We've got this" Clover says, coming over to me. "Nobody's going to get hurt." Clover grabs my hand and squeezes it quickly; I try to ignore the butterflies in my chest.
"What if we're too late?" I can't help myself asking, I shouldn't be relying on Clover for support and reassurance anymore, she's not my girlfriend.
"We're not" Clover says confidently, she then glances over at the avengers. "What if this is a trap so he can kill you and Henry?" Clover whispers in my ear.
"I don't think it is, I think he's getting ready for the endgame now" I answer, this is a big move for Magneto and although it appears to have come from nowhere, I think he's been planning this all along, he's gearing up to get rid of the avengers, so he has complete control.
"The four of you can come but we don't want you going anywhere the bomb or near Magneto" Tony says firmly, walking over to the four of us, his eyes meeting mine. "Just work on getting people away, not on trying to fight any x-men."
I glance over at Peter who nods determinedly at me. "We'll keep everyone safe" Peter says to Tony. Henry nods in agreement.
"I know you will" Tony says to Peter, giving him a hug. Peter returns the hug and my heart sinks slightly, I was never jealous of their relationship because I thought I was Tony's biological child, but I'm not. Does this mean I have to compete with Peter for Tony's affection and attention?
"Don't take unnecessary risks" Tony says, walking over to me. He places his hand on my shoulder. "If you feel like you're being targeted, get out of there immediately."
"Okay" I say, giving Tony a small smile.
