"How's Peter?" Natasha asks me, my heart flickers as I realise this is the first time she's directly spoken to me.
"He's asleep, MJ and Ned are with him" I answer, Henry may still be there, or he might be doing his own thing, I have no idea. "Where's Milo?"
"He'll be getting a room here, he's not a threat to us" Steve answers me. Obviously, he's not a threat, he saved Clover's life without hesitation, and he caught a spear.
"He wasn't thrilled about staying here but Steve convinced him" Tony informs us, I glance over at Clover.
"Did you say you're his dad?" Clover asks sweetly, a small chuckle emerges from my lips. It is not the time to argue, but Clover has her funny moments. Natasha looks away from me, Steve doesn't look particularly impressed, and Tony has a hint of a smile on his face.
"Where is he?" I ask, before Steve gets into an argument with Clover. The two arguing would be entertaining, but I'm more interested in finding out who the hell Milo is and how he knew who we were.
"Fifth room on the left on your floor" Natasha answers, she then glances at me like she wants to say something and she speaks after a few seconds. "It was clever of you to realise what Magneto was planning, you saved a lot of lives today."
"Thanks" I answer, I'll have to be somewhat civil with Natasha and Steve since we're trying to work together, but every time I see either of them a sinking feeling emerges in my chest, and I remember the pain I felt when I realised it was all fake.
I walk into the lift and head up with Clover. We walk out and head to Milo's door, I raise my hand and knock twice.
"Come in" Milo calls out, so I open the door and the two of us head in. Milo has changed into a red top and a pair of blue jeans; he's sitting on his bed glancing at his phone. He places his phone next to him on the bed and sits up straighter.
Clover sits down on the grey couch across from his bed and I sit next to her. "Thank you for saving Clover" I say, looking directly at Milo.
"You're welcome" Milo replies. "The x-men have killed enough innocent people for my liking." Clover and I both nod in agreement.
"Why are you hunting x-men?" Clover asks Milo curiously; she glances at his desk. He has a few pictures on it and a couple of books, nothing surprising.
"Three weeks ago, my girlfriend, Tessa, was at work when a bomb went off, it killed her and many others" Milo answers, looking down at his hands. "I vowed I would do my best to avenge her and make sure no other innocent people die at their hands."
"I'm sorry" I say softly, I can't begin to estimate how many people have lost a loved one to the x-men, but I know it's a lot. My heart sinks as I remember the video of me setting off a bomb, how many people mourned loved ones because of what I did?
"Magneto is after you because he's worried you can defeat them, that you can save everyone" Milo says, I look up half expecting him to be looking at Clover, but he's not. I sigh, I don't think I can defeat anyone, I couldn't even save May or Flash.
"I can't save anyone" I reply, glancing down at my hands. I reach over for Clover's hand, unsure why. I just know I want her by my side. "The avengers are the ones who will save everyone."
"The avengers have been trying to do that for years, they need you to do it. Magneto has a weapon, and your powers are the only thing that can destroy it" Milo says, causing Clover and I to glance at each other.
"A weapon?" Clover asks, her eyes narrowing. "What is Storm supposed to do? Burn it? Anyone could do that." They could, but I don't have to worry about running out of fire or the fire going out of control.
"I think technically she's supposed to use all the elements to destroy the weapon" Milo replies, glancing over at me. "There's a prophecy."
"I really hate prophecies" I grumble, causing Clover and Milo to laugh. I told Tony about what Clover said, that her weird radical group want him dead, but he didn't seem overly concerned, I suppose there's always been someone wanting him dead since he publicly revealed himself as iron man, the whole world knows who he is. "Where is this weapon?"
"I don't know" Milo replies. "But I think I want to help you destroy it."
"We can all do it" Clover agrees. "Storm is powerful, I know how to fight, Milo clearly has some skills, and Henry and Peter have powers."
"The x-men have to be stopped, they've taken so many lives" I say, even if we destroy this weapon, the x-men still have all their skills and plenty of other weapons. As brave as I'm trying to be, I don't think I'm ready for a war, I'm not prepared to lose anyone else.
