"At least this mission can't be any worse than the last one we went on" Clover comments, glancing over at me from the passenger seat. I raise an eyebrow, why is she jinxing us? At least this mission is simple enough, break into a lab, steal the cure, and return back to Stark towers. I suppose it's unlikely it'll end similar to the last – Scarlett won't be around to slit someone's throat.

"Don't jinx it." I glance out the window, there's been nothing but tall, old grey buildings for the past ten minutes. "Have you ever been in a relationship?" I ask Clover. I've been trying to come up with a subtle way to start this conversation, but I've given up on finding a way, so I've decided to jump into the conversation. Something tells me Clover won't mind the bluntness.

Clover doesn't take her eyes off the road, yet I feel like she's looking at me. I wait for her answer, I know she said she's always been on her own, but I just can't imagine that she's never had someone there for her, someone to care about.

"Not really, I've had hook-ups, but they were always pretty meaningless" Clover asks, glancing over at me. Her eyes filled with curiosity but they're also narrowed slightly, like she's trying to figure out why I'm bringing this up. "Have you?" I'm not stupid enough to not think she'll figure out why I'm asking, I just hope maybe it can lead to something.

"I've hooked up with Ashton a few times but never a proper relationship" I answer, I used to think I'd have time to get into a relationship with Ashton after I'd joined the x-men team, of course that didn't go to plan.

Ashton was certainly attractive with messy blond curls and sparkling blue eyes, but I wasn't in love or anything, half the time we had hook-ups it was because we were bored because Scarlett and Henry were busy training or whatever. Clover's white-blond hair and emerald-green eyes are much more appealing now.

"I would've thought everyone would be dying to date you" Clover comments, giving me a quick teasing grin. "Top of your class and attractive would make you quite the catch."

I smile, my cheeks feeling hot. Nobody really bothered with dating, we just had meaningless hook-ups occasionally. I also don't think Mystique and Magneto would've been thrilled with us jumping into relationships, they wanted our missions to come first.

"You're basically the prettiest girl I know, and you can fight, I think most boys would want you" I point out, Clover's pretty close to perfect – she's tough but caring, she can hold her own in a fight even without any powers, and she's been by my side from the moment we met. I couldn't imagine someone not liking Clover.

Clover opens her mouth to reply but we both stare ahead of us as we see the familiar lab. This is our one last chance at getting the cure and that's if it exists. Clover said she wasn't positive there was a second cure, she'd just heard rumours and whispers from all her years of spying on people and getting information.

"Are you sure you want to come?" I ask Clover, turning in my seat to face her. "You already risked your life for mine once." Clover didn't have any obligation to stay with me in the cave, just like she has no obligation to stay with me now. Clover doesn't even know Scarlett; she has no reason to want her out of the final battle.

I glance at the grey laboratory, it looks like no one has been here in years, but I guess that's good if they're hiding super special mutant cures in there, who knows what else could be in there? Deadly weapons that no one knows about? Government codes?

"I think you're the one person I'm positive I want to risk my life for" Clover replies, I smile and glance down at my hands. I can't imagine if Clover had left after we failed to get the cure, I'm thrilled she stayed. Clover smiles warmly at me and quickly grabs my hand.

"Sometimes I'm not sure if I just like boys" I admit, my mouth feeling dry and my heart beginning to flutter once the words are out of my mouth. Clover reaches over and suddenly kisses me. I gasp. Her lips and soft and taste like cherries.

"Let's get the cure, we'll talk after" Clover says. "But I like you, too." I smile but quickly turn my mind to the mission. Clover's right, we can discuss this all we want once we're back at Stark towers, hopefully with the cure.

We walk towards the lab, both of us looking for potential ways in, it's always good to have the element of surprise. We have no idea of knowing who or what could be inside.

I spot a broken window, has someone gotten here before us? I close my eyes; I just hope it's not Scarlett or Magneto. If it has to be an x-men, just not one of them. Ideally not Ashton either but I'd rather fight him than Scarlett at this point, Scarlett's turned into a freaking psychopath.

"Let's climb through?" Clover suggests. I nod, we might cut ourselves on glass, but I don't imagine there's lots of entrances to pick from.

Clover climbs through effortlessly, I follow her in, there's no glass so the broken glass must've been cleaned up. I glance around at the room, it's full of what looks like medical equipment, but everything's loosely covered in sheets which are dusty and basically falling off.

"Was this place a hospital?" Clover asks, pulling a sheet off a desk which is covered in piles and piles of files. I shrug, it certainly looks like it could have been a hospital at one point, but it's obvious no one has used this room in quite a while. "This file has your name on it." I walk over, raising an eyebrow as I pick up the file. 'Patient 97: Storm' is written on the file, there are other Storm's in the world but it's not exactly a common name, either. And this is a building rumoured to hold a mutant cure.

"We can look at it later, let's go" Clover says, taking the file from me and she begins to walk out of the room. I follow her into a hallway, I look up and down, watching for any movement or signs we're not alone.

Clover jumps as we both hear a loud bang, like something being dropped. I walk slowly towards the sound; Clover is right next to me. I don't think that the cure is being left unguarded, it's probably where the noise is.

We walk silently, we both know much the element of surprise can affect a fight and its outcome. It's especially important since we have no idea what weird stuff could be in this building, there could be all kinds of weapons and drugs.

The hallway has white floors and walls with lots of stains and a few streaks of black and yellow on the walls, they look like they've been painted on. The lights are fluorescent, making me feel like this was a hospital or some kind of institution at one point.

"I don't care, just fix it!" An annoyed voice snaps, I turn to glance at Clover who's looking at me. Clover gestures to a small window and walks over, peeking inside. She steps back and gestures for me to look. I glance through and the first thing I see the cure, it's the exact same as the vial Scarlett was holding back in the cave. I can see two men dressed in white lab coats, both facing each other. The first has his arms folded across his chest while the second raises his arms up.

"That's the point, I can't fix it. Let's just kill him!" The second man snaps, his arms still raised. I step back and stare at Clover. There must be people trapped here.

"We can't just kill a mutant, this is the first new mutant we've had in years" the first man replies, sounding just as annoyed. "Aren't you interested in finding out where he came from? Not many x-men venture out here alone."

"Fine, we can just move him upstairs into a room for now" the second man sighs in annoyance. I turn to face Clover who's approaching the door. Without hesitation, Clover puts my file down on the ground, opens the door and leaps inside the room. I follow her into the room. Both the men turn to face us, surprise written all over their faces.

"Storm?" One asks me, staring at me in disbelief.

*Author's Note* Storm and Clover are so cute.
