"Hey" I say as I step out of my room and see Peter waiting for me, his hands are in his pockets and he's not meeting my eyes. "I'm not mad at you."
"Really? I'm kind of mad at myself for it" Peter admits. "You're one of my best friends and I brought you back to a place that caused you so much pain." He's right, the walls here are filled with my pain, but I understand.
"Stopping the x-men is the most important thing, I lost sight of that because I was in a bad place with everything that happened, but I think I'm back on track now" I answer, the idea of facing Steve and Natasha makes me feel physically ill, but I am prepared to work with the rest of the avengers to stop the x-men.
Peter steps forward and hugs me, I haven't quite realised how much I've missed Peter until now. I can hardly remember the days where I hated him. "What Steve and Natasha did was utterly fucked, I'm so sorry, but I know Tony loves you" Peter says to me.
"He does, he told me I'm the closest thing he has to a daughter" I say, Peter's face lights up at the news and I smile, it's nice being friends with Peter again.
"Hey" Clover says, I turn and seeing Clover walking up to the two of us. I have no idea how I'm supposed to treat Clover now. I don't know if she's my friend or my enemy or even if she should be anything to me, maybe we're supposed to pretend the past never happened. "Can we talk?"
"I'll go say hi to Henry" Peter says, practically sprinting down the hallway. I raise an eyebrow, seriously?
"Fine" I answer Clover, glancing at her. I head back into my room, Clover sits down on my chair, and I sit on the window seat, a comfortable distance from her. "I appreciate you getting us out of there, thank you." I decide to start with this.
"I lied in the forest, I said I was never there because I loved you, but that isn't true. I didn't come into this expecting anything, but I never lied to you about my feelings" Clover says softly, her green eyes filled with uncertainty and fear.
I close my blue eyes, unsure how to respond to Clover. I search my mind and heart to assess what feelings come to mind when I think of Clover, I'm grateful she saved us, I did love her, but I'm also angry and hurt.
"You wanted everyone to believe I killed Steve, you wanted me to live with that for the rest of my life" I reply, I don't understand how Clover can sit here and say she did care about me when she was willing to make me spend the rest of my life believing I killed Steve.
"I'm sorry, I have nothing else to say to that except I'm sorry" Clover says, looking at me. "I don't expect anything from you, but can we try to move forward?"
I'm saved from answering by the door opening and Peter and Henry rushing in, panicked looking on their faces. Henry runs over to the desk beside my bed and turns on the tv.
"What's going-" Clover stops talking when Magneto appears on the news, an evil glint in his eyes. My mouth goes dry, what is happening right now?
"Two of my most loyal students have decided to betray me, so I am asking all of you to help me. If you bring me Storm or Henry, dead or alive, I will pay you ten million dollars" Magneto announces, a microphone in his hand. A video emerges and my heart sinks.
"Both are dangerous and lethal, here is Storm with no regard for the lives of innocence civilians" Magneto says, I turn away as the building explodes, I'm aware of what happened here. I glance over at Henry; his eyes fixed on the tv.
"And Henry, every bit as ruthless and evil" Magneto announces as a video appears of Henry stabbing someone followed by a video of a school being blown up. I gasp, my mouth dropping open. Henry's eyes widen and the remote falls from his hands, Clover picks it up and turns off the tv.
"I didn't know that-" Henry begins
"We know" Peter interrupts him, Peter's voice soft and gentle. "Everyone here knows how you guys were lied to and manipulated."
I glance at Henry; his face pale and his eyes are widened with shock and horror. He was only eleven when that happened. "Why is Magneto doing this?"
"To get rid of you both" Clover says bluntly. "He's probably tying up loose ends before he makes a major move." My eyes widen as I realise Clover is right.
"Oh no" I say.
"What?" Peter asks me, glancing at me and then at Henry. Henry gives him a shrug.
"We need Tony" I say, sprinting out of the room. Clover, Peter, and Henry immediately run after me. I run down the stairs, heading down to Tony's lab.
"Where are we going?" Clover asks, her voice right behind me. I don't answer, too focused on reaching Tony so I can tell him what I've figured out. I open the door to Tony's lab and trip on an unturned corner of a mat.
Tony turns to stare at me, and I realise Steve and Bruce are also in here. I'd prefer to do this without Steve, but I don't have time to be picky.
"Magneto is going to blow up Peter's high school and blame it on me or Henry, possibly both of us" I say, panting from all the running.
"He's what!" Peter exclaims from behind me, immediately pulling out his phone and calling someone, probably MJ or Ned.
"Today" I say to Tony.
