"Konoha? Are you sure Kisame?" Kakuzu asked. The blue, shark-nin nodded solemnly, he watched as Mei slept on Deidara's lap. "You realise you might never see her again?" Sasori asked, a hard look buried deep in his oak-brown eyes. He knew that this was going to be very difficult for everyone.

Kisame nodded again. "I don't want her to be forced into this life because I'm her father. I want her to have a normal life, well as normal as it gets for Shinobi" Kisame replied. Pein nodded in understanding, "I'll arrange for her to get-what was that?" He asked, looking around as a soft crash was heard.

"Deidara! Take Mei to her room!" Kisame ordered, as The wall behind them exploded. Deidara nodded and ran, concealing the child in his cloak so the attackers didn't know about her.

He skidded into the room and noticed that Mei was awake, but hardly. "Hey Mei! Mei look at me! Remember what Papa told you about? When we are under attack you stay in here? Well you gotta stay in here yeah? Just for a little bit! See you soon yeah?" Deidara asked. Mei nodded sleepily and hugged him lightly.

"See you soon Deidei-Nii" she yawned.

Twelve masked ANBU nin broke through the wall and a sliver haired nin, by the name of Kakashi sped through the wall, chasing after one of the many targets. He saw Deidara slam a door and get in a defensive stance.

"I can sense your presence! Come out asshole!" Deidara cried looking around for the attacker. "What are you hiding?" Kakashi asked, staying in his hiding spot. "Ha! I bet you'd like to know!" Deidara spat, staying in front of the room, concealing the childish drawings and scribbles.

Kakashi sighed, and prepared to attack, pushing back his curiosity for the moment.

Mei was fully awake now, she could hear loud bangs and crashes and was scared. She crawled over to her drawer and pulled out a thick scroll, and hugging it close to her body.

She hummed a gentle tune that Kisame would hum when she was upset or sick. She kept relatively calm, for a six-year-old. She was just about to move and hide in her bed, when a ninja was sent through her wall. The hawk masked man and her eyes met for a second and he gently picked her up and jumped through the window.

Mei was held too tightly against the man's chest to see anything, but smelt the familiar smell of the sea, and assumed the masked man was one of her father's subordinates. She hugged the man and allowed her tired eyes to close.

Kakashi was surprised when the girl so readily accepted him, but he shrugged it off, she was most likely glad to be rid of the monstrous criminals. He ran as fast as he could without waking the child and felt 5 others following him. He couldn't tell if they where friends or foe so kept moving until he lost them outside of a town, where he decided to hang low before moving on.

Kisame did a head count. 'Hidan, Kakuzu, Pein-Sama, Konan-Sama, Itachi, Zetsu, Sasori, Deidara and myself' his heart dropped. "Mei? MEI!?!?! MEI ANSWER ME!!!" He screamed looking around. He heard a sickening crunch and a high feminine scream.

He spun on his heal and headed towards the crumbling building, screaming for his daughter.

"Kisame! She's gone! She's gone!" Hidan cried, holding back the shark-nin. "NO SHE ISN'T!!! MEI ANSWER ME!!" Kisame cried hysterically, causing everyone to flinch. "Kisame, I'm sorry" Konan said, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder.

Kisame shook the hand off and slumped to his knees tears streaming silently down his face as the building burned.
