Mei was grumpy and tired and was counting all the ways she could kill Kakashi without actually killing him. So far she had 16 different methods and three of them included making him eat his own cooking.
He had stormed into the Nara estate, found her room, thrown a bucket of ice-cold water on her, dragged her out of the insanely warm and comfortable bed she was given and told to get dressed and to grab her weapons, all of them mind you. She did, if only to calm the beast that had raised her, and walked out of the bathroom fully dressed and fearful of what Kakashi had in store for her.
He smiled at her evilly and beckoned her to follow, giving a deep bow to Yoshino Nara and apologising for waking her up so early. 4:30 in the morning early. Yoshino only waved and told him not to do it again, before lumbering back to bed with a yawn.
Kakashi pulled Mei from the estate and smirked lightly as a grumpy Shikamaru followed them, still in his night things.
"Why is Shikamaru following us?" Mei asked, yawning slightly in the middle of the question. "You'll see in a few minutes" Kakashi replied, waving to the sleepy boy. Shikamaru tilted his head in greeting and fell into pace with Mei, waving lazily and yawning loudly. "Good morning Mei-Chan, did you sleep well?" He asked, ruffling up his hair, which had been allowed to fall from his ponytail and fall around his shoulders.
"Great, I would've stayed in it longer if it wasn't for Kakashi" Mei grumbled, pouting slightly and crossing her arms like a child. Shikamaru chuckled at her childish behaviour, causing Mei to blush the tiniest bit and look away from the teen next to her.
She would've been lying through her teeth if she denied that Shikamaru was one of the people she had missed the most while on her travels with her two 'Nii-sans'. Although he seemed to be pretty neutral about the situation and that disappointed Mei, she wanted him to smile and hug her and be uncharacteristically happy that she was back, especially after he made such a big deal out of her leaving.
She stole a glance at Shikamaru to find him glaring lightly at the dark sky and looking like he was about to start whining at Kakashi. "Don't whine, be lucky I didn't come earlier" Kakashi suddenly spoke up, cutting Shikamaru off. "Whatever, let's just get the rest of them" he sighed, shoving his hands into his pyjama pockets.
"Who are we getting?" Mei asked impatiently, stomping her foot and crossing her arms again, tired of the two dancing around the subject of why she was up so goddamn early.
"Hokage-sama wishes that our, um, battle is to be documented by the rest of the Konoha 13" Kakashi told her, pulling her along and growing irritated with her childish behaviour. Mei rolled her eyes and groaned, there was no way she'd be able to show them even half of what she had learnt from her Nii-san's, it was took risky and she liked having only a few people knowing about her family.
"Speaking of which, you are to face me with everything you've got or else" Kakashi added, an evil look in his eye. Unconsciously Shikamaru stepped in front of the orange-haired girl and glared the silver-haired man. Kakashi looked like he was going to ponce Shikamaru but thought better of it as they arrived outside of the Akamichi estate.
"Go on you, Nara. Go get Choji, hurry up lazy ass!" Kakashi commanded, pushing forward Shikamaru with a heave. Mei and Kakashi watched as Shikamaru slowly walked up to the door and let himself in, sneaking through the rather homey looking house and disappearing down one of the corridors.
They waited a few minutes before Shikamaru and Choji showed up and greeted them with sleepy yawns. "Good morning Mei-chan, Kakashi-sensei" Choji greeted, joining them in their group to gather the others.
