7-year-old Mei jumped up and down on Kakashi's sleeping back.

"WAKEY-WAKEY TOU-SAN!!!! TIME FOR SCHOOL!!!" Mei screamed, earning a groan from the sliver-haired Man she had grown to love. "10 more minutes" he moaned, rolling onto his side.

"No! Now!! We're gonna be late!!" Mei cried, lightly banging her fists against his shoulder.

"Fine~ I'm getting up" Kakashi sighed, making a surrender gesture. Mei giggled lightly and pulled him out of his bed and into the living room, where she had set up breakfast and was almost finished packing their lunches.

"You make me proud you know, you're smart and you can cook!!" Kakashi cooed, hugging the little tangerine tightly. "Tou... San, Can't... Breathe!" Mei gasped into his chest. He let her go and started eating, watching carefully as she finished making the lunches.

"Ok, time to go! Oh~ you look so cute~" Kakashi cried as Mei came around the corner in a cute light blue sundress with spaghetti straps and standard Shinobi footwear. "Can I braid your hair!?!" Kakashi asked, completely straying from topic.

"NO! Its too late to do that now, dumb bum! Let's go Tou-San" Mei whined pulling the man-child towards the door. Kakashi laughed and picked her up, placing her on his shoulders and walking towards the Ninja Academe.

Mei and Kakashi arrived a few minutes before the bell, so they sat by a large tree with a swing attached to a lower branch. Mei swung on the swing as Kakashi hid in the tree watching his little tangerine.

"Who are you?" A young boy with a short spiky ponytail asked. "Mei Hatake, who are you?" Mei asked, sending a cute smile at the boy, who blushed slightly. "Shikamaru Nara, do you wanna come and meet Chōji?" He asked, offering her a hand but avoiding her eyes.

Kakashi watched with slight amusement but also slight annoyance as Mei agreed and ran off with the boy. "Too young girly" he muttered as the bell went off.

Mei, Shikamaru and Chōji where all in the same class along with a pink haired, emerald eyes girl called Sakura, a blonde-haired, blue eyed, Deidara look-a-like called Ino, a dark haired boy with onyx eyes, called Sasuke and a young blond haired boy, blue eyed boy that no-one seemed to like.

There were several others that caught Mei's eyes but she didn't get given a name. She watched with curious eyes as the teacher, a white haired Chūnin, entered the class.

"Hello everyone!" The teacher said. "Hello Mizuki-Sensei" the class chirped back. "I believe we have a knew student today. Is Mei Hatake here?" He asked. Mei stood up with her hand in the air, "here sensei!".

"Come down the front and introduce yourself" Mizuki ordered and Mei, tripping over her own feet, walked down to the front.

"Hello! My name is Mei Hatake and I'm 7-years-old! I like to cook and read as well as playing hide-and-seek in the cherry blossom trees around the corner from my house. I dislike liars and cheats and people who are rude. I want to be a great ninja so when I grow up I can make my Tou-San very proud!" Mei said, puffing out her chest proudly.

"Good, now please take your seat. Class, can anybody tell me the true meaning of ninja?" Mizuki asked as Mei scurried back to her seat next to Shikamaru.

Mei sat with a shy Hyūga girl and with Naruto, the blond boy from before. She had noticed how nervous and shy the girl looked and decided to befriend her.

"M-Mei, h-how do you like the academe s-so far?" Hinata, the girl, asked quietly. "Oh it's great! I've made friends with Shikamaru and Chōji, but all the girls seem so interested with Sasuke Uchiha. I don't really get why, he's not that great" Mei replied happily, chewing on some seasoned beef.

"Oh finally! Someone who isn't all 'Sasuke-Kun~'" Naruto burst out. Mei giggled lightly as Hinata gulped nervously. "Huh? Oh in a second! See you two later!" Mei cried, spotting Sakura gesturing to come over.

The end of the day couldn't come soon enough, Mei was exhausted by the time the last bell chimed. She refused to move and waited for Kakashi to come and pick her up. Strangely enough, she wasn't the only one left in the classroom, Shikamaru was also there, though he was asleep.

Mei soon followed the action, falling into a peaceful slumber.

Kakashi and Shikaku Nara walked down the hallway, walking into their children's classroom. They walked in just as Shikamaru woke up from his dazed sleep.

"Well, I'm not surprised" Shikaku sighed, catching his son's attention. "Oh hey dad. Kakashi Hatake right? Mei's dad?" Shikamaru asked. "Yeah, I'm surprised, Mei's such an energetic kid" Kakashi mused, picking up the little tangerine and carrying her out of the room.

Mei's second day at school went a little better, she managed to stay awake all day, so Kakashi treated her to Ramen.

"You where so tired yesterday. Why?" Kakashi asked as his little tangerine slurped on her bowl. "I was enjoying my time. Plus me and Naruto-Kun kept playing pranks on our sensei's" Mei said, chuckling darkly.

Kakashi sweat-dropped, but didn't say anything. He continued to watch his daughter as another question bubbled to the surface.

"What was in that scroll?"

Mei stilled at the question, debating on whether or not she should answer. "J-just some notes for my Mummy and Daddy" she finally replied.

At least it was half true.

Kakashi nodded in understanding, but not fully satisfied with the answer. He didn't push for more details, he didn't want to ruin their relationship after only a year.

"One more thing, when I rescued you why did you hug me?" He asked.

"I-I thought you where my Daddy" Mei whispered, finishing her meal. Kakashi's eye widened, before his gazed softened. "Do you miss them?" Mei asked suddenly.

"Miss who?" Kakashi asked. "Whoever you're visiting the stone for every morning" Mei asked. "Yes, I miss them, they was a very dear friend of mine, their names were Rin and Obito" Kakashi replied, looking longingly into the distance. Mei nodded, thinking over her own father.

Kisame sat down at the stone grave. He laid down a little orange tulip at the base of the stone.

"Hey Baby Girl. It's been a year already. Heh. Sasori misses you like crazy. He's worse then me when people mention you" He said, smiling slightly. "Hidan does too, and Deidara is a little sour coz you promised to braid his hair, remember?" He asked, smirking at the outburst said blond made the pervious day.

"I hope you found your Mama. She's beautiful right? Kakudo is the reason I wanted a family. She showed me I didn't have to look after myself alone" Kisame said, patting the grave lovingly.

"I love you Baby Girl, so so much"
