Li Shuang was pinned to the ground by the old woman, she struggled hard, but she felt like the woman's hand was as strong as iron, even stronger than before.

Seeing this, the soldiers around immediately rushed forward. Luo Teng swung his big sword fiercely at the old woman's neck, but the blade landed on her neck, making a 'click' sound as the sword broke.

"Heart..." Li Shuang managed to utter this word.

Qin Lan quickly took a sword and stabbed the old woman's heart from behind, but the blade couldn't pierce through her back. The old woman turned her head, her eyes completely black without a hint of white. She let out a scream, raised her hand, and a chilling wind swept through, pushing away all the surrounding soldiers.

Li Shuang was now feeling dizzy and her face turned purple.

Just at that moment, there was a pop sound, and the strength in the old woman's hand suddenly decreased. She stared with eyes wide open, a look of unwillingness frozen on her face, then she collapsed.

After the old woman fell, Li Shuang looked up in a daze and saw a child standing beside her, Jin'an...

But now his eyes were red, exuding a strong killing intent. In his hand, he held a stinking heart, dripping with blood. He squeezed the heart forcefully, crushing it. The foul-smelling blood splattered on his and Li Shuang's faces, Li Shuang's felt relieved.

She watched Jin'an discard the lump of rotten flesh that was once a heart.

Li Shuang sat up, enduring the pain in her neck, breathing laboriously. In a hoarse voice, she called out, "Jin'an?"

Jin'an looked at her, seeing her unharmed. Gradually, the killing intent around him dissipated, the redness in his eyes faded, the red marks on his face disappeared, returning him to his usual self.

He expressionlessly shook his hand, trying to get rid of the blood on it, but the blood was sticky and wouldn't come off. In the end, he used his other clean hand to help Li Shuang wipe off the blood splattered on her face. He looked at her with a calm gaze, as if he had just killed a mosquito, not as if he had just killed an invincible, monstrous creature that no one else could handle.

"It's okay," he said, "she won't get up again."

Silence filled the surroundings. No one spoke.

Jin'an lowered his gaze and saw the bruise on Li Shuang's neck from being choked. He furrowed his brow, wanting to touch it but hesitated, "You're injured." She needed to see a doctor. Jin'an thought so, but as he turned his head, a circle of soldiers surrounding him, including Luo Teng, Qin Lan, and Li Ting who had run over at some point, all stared at him guardedly, as if they were guarding against a...

Monster.

A monster similar to the old woman.

Jin'an withdrew his gaze and looked at Li Shuang, only to find her staring at him absentmindedly.

He then hung his head, without any defense, enduring all the surrounding scrutiny silently, like a criminal. However, at that moment, a soft handkerchief wiped across his face.

It was Li Shuang in front of him who helped him wipe away the bloodstains left by the old woman's attack. "Medic," her voice broke, but just with this gentle word, she was enough to dispel all the doubts and awkwardness he faced.

The soldiers immediately snapped out of their trance and called for the medic. They carried Jin'an and Li Shuang into the main camp, with one medic attending to Li Shuang's neck wound and another cleaning the wounds on Jin'an's face.
