Inside the dark cave, the mud covering the walls slowly flowed and gathered towards the bottom of the pit, but the sluggish flow posed no threat to the two still at the bottom.

As for the thick, suffocating sound of the flowing mud, it seemed to resemble the blood within Jin'an's body at this moment, nearly coagulating. He could hear his heartbeat pounding heavily with each beat.

He continued to press on her chest, infusing it with his inner strength, attempting to awaken her body. Yet, he didn't know if his efforts would save her, but he stubbornly clung to her last faint breath, repeatedly and relentlessly, refusing to give up.

The fresh tears cascading down washed away the muddy traces from Li Shuang's face, leaving clean streaks.

After struggling in despair for who knows how long, he finally heard a faint cough.

Jin'an's eyes instantly lit up, as if witnessing the break of dawn.

Li Shuang's body trembled slightly, curling up uncomfortably in his arms, her cheek involuntarily pressing against his chest, against his scorching skin. Unconsciously, she relied on the person who saved her.

This small movement caused Jin'an's almost silent heart to suddenly beat rapidly.

His fingertips trembled, afraid to press on her chest again, afraid to embrace her tightly, fearing that he might exert too much force and cause her pain. He didn't even dare to speak, fearing that his voice might shatter her.

Li Shuang's breathing gradually steadied in his embrace, and then she slowly opened her eyes, finding his shadow within them, which gave Jin'an a sense of peace.

"You..." Li Shuang's voice was hoarse, "Why..."

"I won't let anything happen to you." Jin'an soothed her chest, his inner strength slowly flowing into Li Shuang's body.

For Li Shuang, this healing inner strength felt like a peculiar warmth, warming her stiff limbs and making her heart involuntarily tremble. In this moment, she seemed to sense the emotions belonging solely to this person—his nervousness, sadness, and sorrow.

He was sad for her.

Li Shuang suppressed her initial shock upon awakening and gently lifted her hand to cover his.

Jin'an's body trembled slightly, and he lifted Li Shuang up with his other hand, letting her lean against him. He rubbed his chin against her forehead. "Are you okay? You're okay, right?" He asked softly, seeking her confirmation to erase any lingering unease in his heart.

Li Shuang also rarely allowed herself to indulge in the warmth of another person's body and the sense of security he brought her.

He saved her once again.

In despair, in dire straits, with a miraculous posture, as if using the strength to write a legend, he saved her.

No one had ever made her feel... at ease, just because he was there.

But miraculously, she didn't even know this person's name or origin clearly.

"I'll take you away." He sensed that Li Shuang's pulse was stabilizing, then withdrew his internal strength, intending to take Li Shuang away from this dark place first. He lifted Li Shuang horizontally, leaped up, and jumped out of the muddy pit towards where the moonlight leaked in from outside.

However, as they approached the gap between the rocks, suddenly a person appeared in front of the gap. He held a folding fan and tapped it against his chin. "Truly a spectacle to behold. But I can't let you go like this."
