"The General's words truly startled me. We're old friends; why create such tension?" The witcher narrowed his eyes and chuckled lightly, seemingly unaffected by Li Shuang's threatening tone.
"I don't consider you a friend." Li Shuang's words were clear, but the witcher showed no signs of anger. "Whether we're friends or not doesn't matter," he continued. "General Li, you're overly concerned. The person you're looking for is now a treasure of our Five Spirit Sect. No matter what, I won't let any harm come to him. Whether he's present or not, I came to discuss something related to him with you."
"I'm not here to negotiate with you." Li Shuang lightly ran her finger along the rim of her teacup, her tone calm but imposing. "Either release him, or burn the mountain. There's no third option."
"General," the witcher interrupted, his eyes, usually full of smiles, finally showing a hint of seriousness. "Given the current situation, even if I wanted to hand over the Jade Silkworm to you, it's not certain that I could. Let's say I did release him to you; you might not be able to control him. When that happens, with your fifty thousand troops, once the fire is lit, who knows who will survive? The Jade Silkworm's abilities, you've seen them in the north."
Li Shuang had indeed seen them; he could swiftly infiltrate enemy lines and take out enemy leaders in the blink of an eye. His speed and strength were unmatched, not just in this camp, but perhaps in the whole world.
"What have you done to him after bringing him to the Five Spirit Sect?" Li Shuang's gaze was icy as she stared at the witcher.
The witcher shrugged slightly. "Don't look at me like that. I'm innocent. I brought him back only to extract the Jade Silkworm Gu from him. After all, my ideal Gu person is one without a master. But who knew, his willpower is terrifyingly strong."
The witcher raised his captivating eyes and locked onto Li Shuang. "General Li, your obsession with him is excessive."
"Considering it, you've rushed all the way from the northern border, bringing fifty thousand soldiers to burn down my mountains in the south, all for the sake of saving one person. Aren't you too fixated on him?" The witcher's half-joking words left Li Shuang silent.
She had never seriously thought about what kind of feelings she harbored for that mysterious man. She just wanted to see him again, to see her reflection in his clear eyes, to rescue him. This desire overwhelmed everything else.
"I don't want to hear this nonsense," Li Shuang forcibly redirected the conversation. "Just tell me his situation and how to take him away."
The witcher shrugged. "Alright, in simple terms, I need you to accompany me back to the Five Spirit Sect, alone."
Li Shuang silently scrutinized the witcher.
Under her scrutinizing gaze, the witcher explained, "Let me tell you, ever since I brought the Jade Silkworm Gu person back to the Five Spice Sect, he hasn't had a peaceful day. It's normal for there to be a rejection reaction when leaving the master. I didn't mind at first and continued to use conventional methods to try and extract the Jade Silkworm from him. But as time away from you grew longer, his temperament became more and more violent, to the point where I can't control him anymore."
The witcher sighed and rubbed his temples. "I had my men chain his limbs and neck with steel chains. He struggles day and night, almost breaking the chains. We've changed dungeons three times, and the walls are cracking. Just preventing him from escaping gives me a headache every day. General Li, not long ago, I actually considered sending for you. It's ironic that before I could, you came on your own."
"You want me to go with you to the Five Spirit Sect to appease him?"
"That's my plan, but I don't know if you can still calm him down now," the witcher said. "He's now delirious, no different from the demons and monsters of the world."
