"Take another drag turn me to ashes
Ready for another lie?
Says he's gonna teach me just what fast is,
Say it's gonna be alright!"

RUHAAN

When you have been through a dark phase, nothing is ever good as it seems. The more you dig deeper, the darker it gets.

Since my return, I have encountered a few strange things around. Most of them strange around Devrat Jain.

I always knew the bastard had the most fucked things up against his sleeve but never in a hindsight, was I able to figure out that it was the vent up sins he committed against my maasi.

I hadn't been able to visit my company in the last few days, all mainly because of my involvement in the coronation propaganda and media coverage. Dhruv assigned me a new assistant and until now, I haven't had any contact from the latter.

Guess, the human doesn't know who he is going to deal with.

That is the concept with humans. Me included. We take everything for granted until there comes someone who shows our own exact worth and there comes a time when we finally own up to it working in accordance to the person who showed it to us at the first point.

In the case of my new assistant, I am that someone.

In my case? Again, me and my mind are that someone.

"Ruhaan, are you nuts? Your father will be very angry if he sees you like this." Came the voice of my mother who has been nothing but a puppet of my father, following each and every instruction like he did some black magic on her.

She jerked off my alcohol from my hands and pouring it down the bottle again, she glared at me as if I did something illegal.

"I know what I have signed up for and everything else that you are going to start lecturing me on." I fanned my palm and she heaved a sigh as her eyes remained dull and boring.

"It is for your own good, beta." She muttered smoothening out her jewels and I glanced at my piece of clothings sitting on the bed.

"Where is Raina?" She asked and I pointed towards the closet sighing a calm breath.

Unknowingly and unwillingly, the woman in the closet is the only one who keeps me sane. The only one around me who calms my nerves just by showing up her boxy smile and the only one I want to be around right now.

"Tell me when she comes." She exclaimed raising her brows and I nodded in response and just then, Raina was out in the room all ready in a pastel pink golden lehenga.

Mesmerisation was only one of the many things in my eyes because I swear it was overshadowed by the adoration I had in my heart for Raina.
She is the prettiest, finest and the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my life and even that is an understatement.

"Raina, take this!" Ma's insistence brought me put of my zone and I stared at her adorned in beauty and elegance. Just like the queen people will look upto.

"But why, ma? I already got the jewellery we selected that day?" She asked, her voice soft and respectable in response and I laughed at myself for judging this lady right here before I even knew her.

She is definitely not the woman I imagined.

"So what? This has been kept for the next queen anyway." Ma replied but there was a hidden mock in her tone which I quite didn't get well with.

"Thankyou ma. I will adore this beautiful piece all my life." Raina exclaimed, a joyous smile on her lips unable to observe the tone ma used towards her.
