I sighed as Tsubaki and I walked out of the town on the eighteenth floor, Rivira, the adventurer-run town. She showed me around the town, taking me to all the interesting places the town had. Turns out, she was quite infamous as she had thrashed the local pub several times. I found this out when the pub owner refused to serve us anything when we walked in. Tsubaki being her, just laughed out loud before walking out. We then just walked through the town, taking in the few sights that the place had.
As we were walking my boon, [Omnilingualism], activated as we were by a dilapidated warehouse. When it did, I could read the hidden lettering on the side of the building. It was a Pallums-only bar entrance. I kept quiet as I didn't want the entire population of Pallums after me.
Before long, Tsubaki and I headed out of the town. She said she wanted to show me a place she loved to go. I obliged and followed her out of the town. I followed her down an old dirt road and up a cliff and soon we found ourselves overlooking the town yet we weren't at the top. As we still ascended, Tusbaki and I held hands and chatted about our lives up until we met.
When she found out that I had five brothers, she laughed and said that it must have been hectic. I told her about the time that our youngest sibling, our sister, bought home a boy. She laughed at how we were overprotective of her. I laughed and said that we didn't need to be as she could kick all our asses if she wanted to.
Tsubaki told me that her mother, a dwarf, was part of the Hephaestus Familia and her father was an adventurer who died in the Dungeon. When I asked about her mother, Tsubaki sighed and said that she died after she gave birth to her. I apologized and squeezed her hand, letting her know that I was there for her. Tsubaki smiled at me and thanked me. When I asked who her mother was, she said that she didn't know. All that she knew was that Hephaestus had raised her since she was born.
.
"At least you have a lead on who your mother was," I sighed, causing Tsubaki to stop.
"But don't you have brothers and a sister?" She asked.
"By choice and bond," I answered truthfully, "I'm the bastard son of a nobleman and a female prostitute. She died after trying and failing to use me to screw over my father. My father, if you can even call him that, then sent me to an orphanage where we were no better than slaves. That's where I met my brothers and sister. We were forced to work or we didn't get fed. It was during the times of hunger we endured that we bonded."
"Oh my gods," Tsubaki whispered as she looked at me.
"That's not the worst of it," I chuckled sadly, "We were then picked out for an Alchemical experiment, where we were the material. It was only thanks to a careless assistant that we managed to escape," Then I sighed, "I should say 'I' escaped. My siblings, they weren't so lucky."
.
As I looked back on my macabre life, both old and new, Tsubaki hugged me. Startled, I stood there uncomfortably before melting into the hug. As Tsubaki leaned back to say something, we heard the clashing of metal against metal. We glanced at each other and nodded before shooting off towards the sounds of battle.
Tsubaki headed off faster than me and I arrived just as she and a bunch of thugs were blocking her. I managed to see past them and saw a circle formed around a white-haired youth. One Bell Cranel.
I've long since forgotten the plot of the Manga or Light novel. But bits and pieces still remained in my memory. This one in particular was one that had to be prevented at all costs, the spawning of the Black Goliath. It was both rewarding and disastrous for Bell and those involved.
