I sighed as I wandered around the Dungeon's sixth floor. I was killing Frog shooters and War shadows whenever they came too close to me. I was mainly here for more materials. Naming those would be War Shadows' claws, Frog Shooters' tounges, and magic stones. My idea for them is a type of whip that can lengthen itself further than possible.
But as I was walking through the floor, I came across a large backpack lying on the ground. From the looks of it, a party or person threw it away to run from the monster. That, or it's a newbie trap. I sighed and calmly walked towards the bag, my new saber and dagger ready. As I got close to the bag, I heard scuffling coming from behind me. Whipping around I faced the person behind me and found a dagger heading in my direction.
Dodging the thrown weapon with ease, I found myself being charged at by several filthy-looking people. They were covered in dirt, had a foul smell on them, and their clothes were patched or ripped. I could only guess they were from the Soma familia due to their raggedy appearance and the smell of alcohol on them. And since this was the Dungeon, it was either survive or die.
So when the first person, a dwarf if I had to guess from the matted beard, came at me with a wood axe. Swinging my saber in a circle, I deflected the axe and swiped with my dagger. The dwarf couldn't react fast enough as my dagger found his throat. Without meaning to, I cut through his neck in one swipe.
.
'Must be desperate level ones of the Soma familia,' I thought as I rotated around and swung out with my saber.
.
My saber cut a clean line across the midsection of the second person, a human I believe. Swiping up with my dagger I blocked and cut through a horizontal swing at me from a rusty iron sword. With a stab, I pierced the heart of the offender. Pulling out my saber, I slammed the hilt of it into the head of a Pallum. I felt her head get crushed under my hand. As I relaxed for a second, my eyes wandered towards the bag. With a flick of my wrists, I cleaned my weapons for their blood. As I took a step toward the back, a second Pallum jumped from behind it. Uncaring about the death of her friends/fellow familia members.
I didn't hesitate to pierce the head of the Pallum with my dagger. I sighed in sadness at the lack of life they had in their eyes. They would have either died or killed me for my drops. I felt my heart harden.
I searched them for any drops or loot they had, keeping a lookout for anything else. Finding some monster drops on them and taking the backpack that was on the floor, I stuffed it full of more drops and left for the day.
As I ascended the steps of the Dungeon, I didn't meet up with anyone of particular note. A few Amazons and other races, but none that I needed to be cautious of. When I reached the entrance of the Dungeon, I saw a few familiar faces. Namely, Bell and Lili from the manga and Ains who was waiting for the elevator to go up the Bable tower. I didn't greet them or anything like that as I just knew them from the manga or light novel. They weren't my friends or anything. Then again, the only friends I had were Hecate and Demeter, who were both goddesses and knew my secret.
.
"Gods, I need to make some friends," I muttered to myself.
"Hey, Ed!" A voice called out to me before I felt an arm drape itself over my shoulders.
"Oh, Tsubaki," I greeted her as I turned toward her. "What's up?"
"Oh, I know that look in your eyes," She spoke as she looked at me. "You had a run-in with a bad bunch of adventurers, didn't you?"
"Yeah, yeah I did," I answered her as I sighed, "Soma family if I had to guess from the smell of them."
"I see," She mused, "You had to take their lives. I know that feeling. The first kills are always like that. But after a while, that pain fades. Trust me, it does."
