I sighed as I watched the flames of my magic heat the piece of iron until it was cherry-red. Once it was hot enough, I began to hammer it into shape. The blows rang true as the metal started to shape, which I was familiar with in both my past life and this new life. The forward curve was almost a straight 45% angle. The offset handle and the familiar horsehead motif brought back both painful and pleasant memories. Once the blade was finished taking shape, I summoned a ball of water. As I went to quench it, Tsubaki came out of the woods with a barrel over her shoulder. Having left and came back sometime during the forging process. She set the barrel down and opened it up to show that it was a quenching oil she brought.
Needless to say, I was grateful and accepted it as she watched over the completion of the sword I was making. As I finished putting the last touches on the handle, I used wind magic to shave the sides of the blade to make them uniform. After that, I shaved and ground down the edges to sharpen the blade.
The metal shined and the edge was sharper than a razor. Tsubaki nodded her head as she took the sword from me and inspected it. As she was inspecting it, I began to make the sheath for it. Then she asked for its name.
.
"I'm not sure," I answered her, "I wasn't thinking about it as I forged it. I just wanted to suppress and come to terms with some things from my past."
"I understand," She sighed as she ran a hand over the blade, "But every good piece of gear needs a name. Hell, if I were just starting out as a level one, this blade would be perfect."
"Memoire," I spoke after some thought, "How's that for a name?"
"Memoire?" She muttered before laughing slightly, "Heh, it's a good name."
"Thanks," I spoke as I cleaned up the tools and shavings.
"Look," Tsubaki sighed, "About what happened with Bell, I'm sorry for keeping you at arms reach."
"It's fine," I told her as I reached for my transmutation tablet.
"No, it's not," She spoke somewhat loudly before she grabbed her arm, "I saw the look on your face, you were desperate. Like you wanted to stop something from happening again."
'You're not wrong,' I thought as I took the tablet into my hand. "Look, Tsubaki, what's done is done. And there is no taking it back."
"But still, I feel bad about doing that to you," Tsubaki stated as she came close, "I avoided you and treated you like a monster."
"What's done is done, I don't blame you," I said finally, " Hell, I understand why you distanced yourself from me. I wasn't who you knew at that moment. I got lost in the past when I saw what was happening."
"...Will you tell me what you saw?" Tsubaki asked.
"No," I calmly spoke with a tone of finality.
...

I sighed as it was the start of the next day. As I was reviewing the materials I had gathered, a runner from the Loki Familia came and retrieved me, asking me to join a meeting with the executives of the Familia. I agreed and gathered my gear, not risking them to be left alone due to the quirky personalities of the Hephaestus Familia. Knowing them, they would do their best to break my gear down to learn how to make them.
As I followed the runner back to where the Loki Familia tents were, we were met with Tsubaki and the vice-captain of her Familia, a human named Barden. The four of us were silent as we didn't have much to discuss until the meeting. Barden and Tsubaki were arguing about whether or not this was about their gear. I just kept silent as I had a feeling that this was about just that.
