'What should I do?' I pondered as I thought about my possible level-up. 'Magic is my main bread and butter, along with [Alchemy]. [Luck], however, is as close to divine protection as it gets.' I thought as I sat in the chair, as Hecate giggled at my thinking face.

"You look so cute when you think so hard," Hecate said softly as she rubbed my shoulders, "So, [Luck] or [Mage]?

"[Mage] is very tempting," I spoke evenly, "But something is pulling me towards [Luck], like the Divinity from your Icor is wanting me to choose it."

"That shouldn't be possible," Hecate spoke assuredly, "Once we engrave our divinity in a mortal's soul, it is ingrained and turned neutral."

"Then it must be something else," I nodded, still weighing my options.

"Whatever you choose, know that I'll always be by your side," Hecate told me as I finished my thoughts.

"Okay, please pick [Luck]," I spoke with resolve, my mind made up.

.

Without any fanfare, Hecate selected [Luck], and I felt it become ingrained in my soul. Nothing out of the ordinary happened, and there were no uplifting or unusual side effects. Just nothing.

I sighed as I thought about how ridiculous the thought was that something would happen. As I let my shirt fall back down and get up, Hecate moved around me and headed for the fridge. As she opened it up, I smelled an enticing aroma. She then pulled out a fresh apple pie that was slightly chilled.

From the look of it, it looked exactly like the pie my landlord made for me in my last life. The smell was the same, and the look was strikingly similar. All that was missing was the whipped cream topping.

.

'I wonder how Tsubaki is handling all this?' I couldn't help but think as Hecate served me a slice of pie.

It's been one week since the incident on the 18th floor.

The havoc of what happened was still being talked about. However, another Denatus was held. Hecate, Hestia, Loki, and Hephaestus were the center of attention for the meeting. As they were the main Familias who mainly fought against the Skull Centipede.

The only reason that Hecate was part of it was due to my saving several high-ranking members of Hephaestus and the Loki Familia. Hestia was attending as her child, Bell, was the one to stun it long enough for the executives of the Loki Familia to strike it down.

The main reason behind this meeting was to plan for another one of them appearing in the future. However, it was more about who and what percentage of the materials went to. The guild Manager, a Mr Royman Mardeel, was trying to get as much as he could get his grubby hands on, as all he saw was profit.

Needless to say, not much other than those things, not much happened during it. However, there were talks about alliances between the bigger Familias. Hephaestus and Hecate were talking about it due to my relationship with Tsubaki, and they were on the fence about bringing in Hestia and her Familia.

Hecate asked for my opinion, and I told her outright that it was up to her and only her. I may be the Captain/only member, but what she decided is what I had to go with. She then told me that my opinion matters for my safety and the future of the Familia.

I sighed and told her that I did approve of allying with the two families; however, there were concerns of them betraying one or more of us. And if anything, ask if Demeter/Gaia was willing to join this alliance. Hecate, though reluctantly, agreed, as she would be a stopgap in case they had plans of using us. However, both of us agreed that the chance of this was very unlikely.
