Demeter nearly had an aneurysm from the headache that I had given her, since the idea of magical tattoos was a touchy subject. On one hand, it was possible. On the other hand, it could very well interfere with the blessing that the Falna gives somebody. This was the main reason that I was forced to sit on my knees and endure an hour of Demeter yelling at me. Hecate was even forced to understand that this was a serious matter after she got excited over the idea as well.
After a very thorough scolding from Demeter, she and Hecate, who was forced to, retired for the night. And I, having learned my lesson, headed in for the night. I knew that Hecate and Demeter would be talking throughout the night. Mainly about my insane ideas, but that was just the icebreaker. The main reason for the talk was about my mild case of insanity.
The only reason I knew was that Hecate told me after Demeter left the next day.
After Demeter left, I got prepared for my week in the dungeon. I made sure my saber and dagger were sharp, my gear was dent-free, the miscellaneous tools I was going to bring were brought, and that I had packed enough rations for the week I was going to be gone. As I was packing my things into my bag, a knock resounded off the front door. After hearing Hecate call and say she'd get it, I continued to pack.
Just as I was finished packing, Hecate called for me. Saying it was a customer. I sighed and headed down, hoping that this could wait until I got back from my trip. However, as I reached the shopfront, I was met with the familiar closed-eye smile of the Goddess Loki. She was there with a blonde girl who seemed to have a blank expression. I recognized her; it was Ais Wallenstein.
.
"Lady Loki, and Miss Ais," I started with a smile, "What do I owe for the pleasure of this visit?"
"Cut the sweet talk," Loki said with a curt voice. "We're here for my sweet Ais's sword. Did you get it finished or not?"
"Of course he got it finished," Hecate huffed before I could speak.
"As my Goddess says, I did indeed complete it," I answered her before going into the back and bringing out the new and improved Desperate. "I had a hell of a time getting the materials to bond correctly. Add on that the Durandal enchantment made it harder to do so. So I had to erase the enchantment and start from scratch. With all the materials being level five or higher, I had quite a few rebounds that made it painful to work with."
"Rebounds?" Ais asked with a head tilt.
"Mishaps or accidents," I clarified for her. "Anyway, the materials are now properly fused, and it has been reenchanted with Durandal."
"What about that Channeling enchantment?" Loki asked as she and Ais looked over the sword.
"Already enchanted with it," I told them. "It should increase your ability to channel your mana by a flat increase of 25%. It will increase your sword's sharpness and make any spell you cast with ease."
"Mana?" Ais asked again as she took the sword from me and held it. "What's mana and why is it so light?"
"Mana is what is used to cast spells, also called mind." I began a small lecture after remembering her constant bash to the head. "When one casts a spell, they use mana to bring the spell forth. If you can feel mana, you can lower the amount you use in your spells to avoid wasting too much. As for why it is so light, that's the real weight of the blade and not anything unnecessary added to it."
.
I then went on to teach Ais how to feel mana and told her that she should learn to channel it into the blade. That way she could increase the sharpness several times over. She asked if there was any easy way for her to learn more. I told her practice makes one better than before. After getting the blade, she thanked us and paid the amount owed before leaving. Though having to transport several million Valis into the Familia vault was a pain. That alone took three trips up and down the steps.
