"You know, I can handle going back up by myself," I spoke my mind as I was a part of a group that included, Tsubaki, Gareth, Bete, and Finn.
"It's not that we don't trust you," Finn started to say but was interrupted by Bete.
"Your body can't even handle the amount of experience," Bete growled, "Hell, it's a miracle that you can even walk."
"It's not that bad," I said while raising my arm, though the action caused me to grimace, which I hid poorly.
"Don't overexert yourself," Tsubaki sighed as she patted my shoulder lightly.
"Sure," I muttered as we climbed.
.
As we climbed, I was basically assigned the supporter role. As they fended off any incoming monsters, I was going around and picking up any drops. However, after a monster slipped past the group, I was assigned a minder to ensure I didn't try to use magic again since I nearly passed out. But, even though I was useless for the most part, I managed to get an order for what the Loki Familia wanted for enhancements on their gear.
Bete wanted his boots to be enhanced with a strength-type enchantment. Gareth decided not to change his weapon and asked for durability and strength enchantment on his axe. As for Finn, he was firm with him wanting his boots enchanted with a speed enchantment and for his spear a sharpness enchantment.
While the executives of the Loki Familia were getting the enchantments, the rest were on the edge about it. It's not like I didn't understand, but it wouldn't hurt them in the long run. A few did think about it, but it was out of their price range at the moment.
Soon enough we reached the 5th floor of the dungeon. By the time we reached the stairs leading up to the 4th, we stopped to take a quick break. That was when I noticed a small crevice in the wall. As I looked towards it, a glimmer appeared just for a moment. I went to inform the rest about this, but that's when my instincts kicked in.
While my arms were aching and on the verge of falling off, I pulled out my saber and blocked a needle thrown at me. The sound of me drawing my saber alerted the rest of the group that something was off. Tsubaki was the first to notice that I had drawn my sword and was pointing it at the wall where the crack was. She alerted the rest of the group of the ambush. Next thing we knew, several adventurers who were cloaked head to toe in dark clothing were rushing at us.
Finn and the rest of the group quickly and easily dispatched the cloaked adventures. However, my instincts were still screaming at me that something was wrong. That's when I smelled it.
.
"Shit, run for it!" I yelled. "They had monster bait covering them!"
.
As soon as the words left my mouth everyone burst into a sprint up the steps to the 4th floor. Tsubaki saw that I was lagging behind, threw me over her shoulder, and ran as fast as she could. Through the twists and turns of the fourth floor, the group and I managed to reach the second floor but we ended up creating a parade of monsters. Thinking on his feet Finn, Bete, and a few high-level adventurers stayed behind to fend off the parade of monsters. Tsubaki, I, and the rest of the group rushed up as fast as we could.
As soon as we reached the first floor steps to the surface, the rest of the group was screaming for the guards. Once the guards were told that we were ambushed and the attackers used monster bait, they started scrambling to organize a defense while the others stalled for time. Even though only low-level mobs would spawn, the amount could easily overrun a level 3 with ease. Once the guards were grouped and armed sufficiently, they rushed down to where the others were.
