Chapter 39

Amity

Days had gone by, the boys had Elena locked up in the house. Klaus had gone to follow a lead on Katherine. Tyler's friend Hayley had been feeding Katherine information about the cure. He had brought her back to the mansion. Paige dropped me off so I could spend some time with Klaus before I had to start studying for finals. I wished Paige a good day before I headed inside.

When I went in with Joye I called out for him, setting Joye's carrier down, "Klaus? Baby and I are here." I smiled when I could hear him rushing through the house. He scooped me up and kissed me, "Good morning, love. How are you and our Littlest Wolf doing?" I smiled and wrapped my arms around his neck, "We're sleepy and grumpy this morning. She's started teething. So she's been very fussy." He frowned and set me down, pulling Joye out of the carrier, "Is that right? My poor baby."

I put my backpack on the couch and hummed as I pulled my books out, "She didn't want to sleep last night. I'm hoping she'll sleep today so I can study. Finals are coming up. I got the approval to go to prom. The girls and I are going dress shopping soon." He smiled and rocked Joye as he came over and kissed the top of my head, "Someone will be joining us for lunch." I look up at him, "Hayley? Trying to get information about Katherine?"

He nodded, "Yes, I told her I would protect her if she gave us information about Katerina." I nodded and got up, "Well let's hope Joye goes down for her nap today so we aren't interrupted." He chuckled as he followed me to the kitchen. I made a cup of coffee and smiled, "Time for caffeine and studying. I love you." I kissed him and moved back to the couch and started on my study guides.

I looked up when there was a knock on the door. Klaus opened the door and frowned when Damon was on the other side, "What an unpleasant surprise." Damon waved to me, "Hiya Amity. Elena went to school today, you're missing out." My eyes widen, "Already? You sure that's a good idea?" He shrugged, "Stefan's babysitting her." I shake my head as Klaus crossed his arms, Damon looked back at him, "So I just came up with a list. It's called 'things you suck at'."

Klaus frowned at that as he waited for Damon to continue, "Number one: Finding Katherine. Ever. Number two: Covering up your secret phone conversations with that little backstabber Hayley. You know about that one Ames?" He gave me a pointed look. I rolled my eyes, "Are you trying to imply something inappropriate Damon? I know about his talks with Hayley. So nice try." He scoffed and rolled his eyes, "Yeah, okay. So, where is she? And what does she know about Katherine?" He looked back at Klaus. Klaus stiffened as he tried to stay calm, "I should help you? After you lot killed my brother and imprisoned me in the Gilbert living room?" Damon nodded, "You might want to prioritize, Klaus. You have much bigger problems."

Klaus's eyes squinted at the older Salvatore brother, "Katherine has the cure. My guess is she's gonna want to cram it down your throat. You help me find Katherine, I'll get the cure, I'll give it to Elena, everybody wins." Klaus smirked as he came over to the couch and sat next to me, "Just let me question Hayley about Katherine." Klaus rubbed my hip, "Can't help you mate. Hayley's off limits. Although, I did have a run-in with a vampire who may know where Katerina is. Too bad I bit half-way through his bloody neck. He probably won't have much time for chitchat."

Klaus grinned at Damon before Damon groaned, "Great. Where did you leave him?" Klaus told him where and he left, mumbling as he went out to door. I shook my head and leaned against him, "We have to be careful with Silas out and about." He hummed, "Silas doesn't scare me. I'll protect you and our little one." I nod against his chest, "You're distracting me from my school work. Can you let me know when I need to start lunch?" He kissed the top of my head and nodded, "Of course."

I set the table and plated lunch. Joye luckily went down for her nap easy to give us time to talk with Hayley. She made her way down and looked around, "Who are you? I know I've seen you before." I looked up at her as I hung my apron up and smiled, "I'm Amity, Klaus's girlfriend. You're Tyler's friend." She nodded and smiled, "You're the one with the baby. Tyler told me about you." I chuckled as Klaus came around the corner, "Yes, that would be me."
