chapter 4

Paige

I woke up to Ames and my alarm going off. I rolled over and ended up falling off the bed. I screamed on the way down since I was on the top bunk. I heard Amity shoot up and ask, "What's going on?" She looks at me and starts laughing. The door bursts open and we scream as Spencer runs in with a baseball bat in hand. Amity yells, "Spencer! Don't do that! Where did you even get the bat?" He puts the bat down and says, "What happened in here?" I point to myself then say, "I fell." He chuckles and says, "I'm going back to bed, have a good day at school sisters."

He gives us each a kiss on the cheek and leaves. We look at each other with squinted eyes before bursting out laughing. I get up off the floor and stretch then help Amity out of bed. At least she is past her mood swing stage. Cause, oh my glob, did we fight when she had them. We pick out our outfits and get dressed. We go into the bathroom and Amity does her business as I throw my hair into a ponytail. I do my makeup then do Ames'. She braid's her hair and we exit the bathroom.

I help her downstairs and into the kitchen where we quickly eat breakfast. It's almost 7 AM when I am helping amity put her sneakers on and we hear a knock on the door. I grab our bags and she takes hers and we exit to see Elena. She smiles and asks, "Ready?" We nod and follow her to her car.

When we get to school the gang surround us and Caroline shows us to our locker, we are sharing one since it is easier. We have first period (or whatever period they have history in the show.) with Bonnie, Elena, and Stefan. I sit behind Elena and amity sits beside me. Elena holds up a sign toward Stefan and Ames and he shakes his head but Ames nods. She pouts and shows it to Bonnie who also nods. When Ric, or Mr. Saltzman walked in I couldn't help but feel there was something off about him.

He stared at Elena for an odd amount of time. He also looked at Amity with a weird look. About halfway through class I hear Amity wince and raise her hand. Ric calls on her and she asks, "May I go to the restroom?" He nods and when she leaves I quickly run after her. I find her in the bathroom leaning against the wall. She has her head leaned against the wall and she has her wrists covering her face in pain. I go over to her and start to lightly rub her stomach to possibly help the baby calm down. She looks at me and a few tears start to fall and she chokes, "Baby has her feet lodged in my ribs. It hurts to breathe."

I nod and say, "It'll pass sis. Let's clean you up." She nods and I grab a paper towel and clean the makeup off her face. We go back to class and when we sit down Elena asks, "Is she okay?" I nod and whisper, "Baby has it's feet lodged up in her ribs." She makes a pain face and I nod. The bell rings and when I help Amity up, Ric comes over and asks, "Are you alright Amity?" She nods and wheezes out, "I'm fine." He nods and I pull her out and to our next class.

During lunch, we were sitting with Elena and bonnie when Dana came up to us and said, "Hey, Elena, there you are. Okay, this is going to sound freaky but this totally hot guy just asked me to ask you if you're going to the dance tonight?" We look at her and Bonnie says, "Tell him she has a boyfriend." Dana replies, "You could at least meet him. He'll be at the dance tonight. Look for him, his name is Klaus." We all stiffen and Elena's smile fades as she asks, "I'm sorry, what did you just say?"

"His name's Klaus. I know the name's stupid but I swear he's hot." Bonnie looks around and asks, "Where is he, is he here?" She looks confused as she says, "I don't know." Bonnie whispers, "She's been compelled." Dana starts again, "But he wants to know if you'll save him the last dance. How cute is that?" I lean over to Elena and whisper, "Not at all, it's creepy." She nods at me and Amity winces again. Dana leaves, and we all get up, and Elena says, "Okay girls, you need to come with us right now." We nod and follow them out of the school.

Elena calls everyone to tell them to meet at the Salvatore boarding house. When Elena tells everyone everything, Damon says, "So we go to the dance, we find him." Stefan counters, "Really how are we going to do that? We don't even know what he looks like." Damon mocks, "Something tells me he's not going to be sixteen and pimply." I sit Amity down on the couch as Stefan says, "He could be anywhere at any time, he compelled somebody at school. Guess its not as safe as you guys thought, huh?" There is a knock on the door and Ric comes in and Damon says, "There you are." Ric says, "Sorry I'm late."
