Chapter 7

Amity

When I wake up after who knows how long I sat up and say, "Oh god, what happened?" I see Elena and Stefan arguing and Stefan yells, "I listen to the words that come out of your mouth and all I hear is the sound of your heart pumping blood through your body, and when that clock ticks down." He points to the scoreboard which has five minutes left on the timer. He continues, "I'm going to have to feed off you."

They continue to argue and I yell, "Would someone please tell me what the hell is going on?!" The two look at me and Elena sighs in relief, she runs up the bleachers and wraps me in a hug, "Thank god you're alright...Amity, we need to get you out of here. Klaus compelled Stefan to feed off me when the timer runs out and if I try to leave to fracture my spine. He didn't say anything about you. I need you to get out of here as quick as you can." I say, "I'm not leaving without you."

She shakes her head, "Yes you are. Call Paige and have her get you when you are outside. Go now." She nudges me toward the stairs and I carefully make my way down and when I am safely on the ground and I start to speed walk to the door. I get there and I look back once more to see Elena nod at me to leave. I turn around and try to find the exit but I've never really been this way before. So I get lost.

I start to panic so I lean against a wall and slide down to my butt. I take deep breaths and once I am calm I feel a presence in front of me. I slowly look up to see Klaus standing in front of me. I press myself further against the wall and he chuckles. "No need to be frightened, love. I'm not gonna hurt you." I say with a wavering voice, "I don't believe you."

He looks at me with an almost hurt expression but covers it up. He bends down close to my ear and I put my head down to hide and he whispers, "I would never hurt you. I can't." He pulls me up and pulls me down the hall, I start to struggle and he says, "Don't fight me, love, you won't win." I ask, "Where are we going?" He opens a door and we are outside. He looks at me and tries to compel me.

"You are going to go home and stay there the rest of the night." I say, "I'm on vervain Klaus. Compulsion won't work. But I'll do it anyway since once I get home I'm going straight to bed." He looks at me and squints like he's analyzing me. He quickly kisses my cheek then disappears I take out my phone and call Paige. She answers and says, "Oh my god, Amity are you alright?!" I say, "Yeah, I'm fine, where are you?" She sighs and says, "In the parking lot. I'll come find you." She hangs up and I lean against the wall waiting for her to pick me up.

I think about what just happened and it confused me. He kissed my cheek. I couldn't help but like it, though, I felt sparks go through my whole body. Cheesy I know but it's true. I felt the baby squirm around in my uterus and I rub my belly and say, "Soon you get to stretch out in the real world. I'll always protect you." I hear a honk and Paige jumps out of the car and she sighs loudly and says, "Oh my god Amity, you had me worried sick." I smile sadly and say, "Let's go. Before Klaus changes his mind and makes Stefan come after us as well." She nods and she helps me into the car. The ride is silent and it's awkward. I end up falling asleep in the car but semi wake up when I get carried up the stairs and I hear Spencer say, "Go back to sleep, little sister." I do what he says and I sleep for the rest of the night.

When I wake up I feel like I can breath better but the pressure on my bladder sucks. I say, "Paige I think the baby finally dropped." She looks over the side of the bunk and says, "You totally dropped, your stomach shape is different." I look in the mirror and she's right. My stomach is down more toward my pelvis and it was more sticking out more than it already was. Paige jumps down off her bunk and grabs her camera that mom got her. I prop myself up on my elbows and she bats me down and pulls my tank-top off my stomach. I roll my eyes and I look at her as she says, "Smile." I smile and hold a thumb up.
