Third

The girls laughed as they started cleaning up the house. Paige cleaned up their spilled coffee and started putting the kitchen together as Amity and Caroline started scrubbing the floor. Amity sighed as some of the chunks came up, but most of it stayed, "They're gonna need a rug, or to just redo the flooring." Caroline nodded, "At least we can say we tried?" She looked up when the door opened, "Hey, you're home! We were trying to clean the burn mark where Kol--" She got up and started walking towards them when she paused.

Amity looked up and gasped as Stefan came through the door with Jeremy's body. Paige ran over and covered her mouth, "Jeremy! Oh my god, what happened!?" Elena didn't say anything as she set their things down and went to the stairs as Stefan gave a shake of his head, "Come on, let's get him upstairs." None of the three girls moved as they went to to Jeremy's room. Amity got up, "Oh my god. What happened over there?"

Paige looked at the other two as Caroline grabbed the bucket and went to the sink. Stefan came down the stairs and took his jacket off. Amity went over and hugged him, "Welcome home... Where's the rest of everyone? Is Bonnie?" He sighed and rubbed his face, "Damon stayed back to look for Bonnie. We don't know where she is." Amity started to pace as Caroline turned after dumping the bucket, "How long has she been like that?"

"Since we found his body. Hasn't said anything except that she's waiting for him to wake up." Paige leaned on the island, "But he's not going to wake up. Right?" Stefan put a finger to his lips and went over and turned the water on, he motioned them close, "Look. Deep down, I think she has to. But we're talking about Elena here. She feels grief more powerfully than anyone else. I think her denial is protecting her from letting it all in." Amity nodded and sighed, "She can't stay like that forever. It's not going to end well."

He nodded at her as they all crossed their arms, "I know. But I don't want to be the one to break her out of it. Not until we know Bonnie's safe. Not until we get Damon here to, you know." Caroline nodded, "Use the sire bond to convince her that everything's okay." Paige heard Elena coming down the stairs and motioned for them to shut up, "I'm not in denial." Stefan turned the water off as everyone turned to look at her, "I know that he was supernatural. But did you see? His tattoo's gone." She walked farther into the room as Caroline's lips pursed, "The tattoo had the spell that opened Silas's chamber. Maybe it being gone means that he fulfilled his supernatural destiny."

Amity went over and rubbed her arm, "Maybe he's back to normal. It's possible, right?" Care took a step toward her, "Elena-" Elena held her hand out, "It's possible, Caroline. There's a chance. It may be minuscule, but it's hope. And I'm gonna hold onto that hope with everything that I've got because there's no way that--" Amity started rubbing her arm again as Elena choked on her next words. Paige stood by Caroline and bit her lip.

"There's absolutely no way that my brother is dead." She nodded to herself then shook her head, "I'm not in denial." She squeezed Amity's hand before storming back upstairs to her brother's side. The four of them stood in the kitchen and sighed. Caroline shook her head before she headed toward the door, "I've gotta call Tyler." Paige went with her, leaving Amity and Stefan in the kitchen.

Stefan sighed, "How were things here? With us being gone?" Amity scoffed as she got the kettle out and started to make some tea, "Tyler taunted Klaus the whole time. Changed his tune quick once we found out there was only one dose. I was able to let him live though. He can come back for prom and graduation. Klaus wasn't happy but I had the final say with it." She pulled out more mugs and sighed, "What are we going to do, Stefan?" He shook his head, "I don't know."

Stefan took mugs of tea out to Paige and Caroline. Paige sat on the swing and sipped at the drink, "Do you know where he is?" She shook her head, "As far from Klaus as he can get. He said he wouldn't stop until he found him." Stefan nodded, "Well, Katherine's been running from Klaus for 500 years. It's not easy. But it's possible. That's probably why she stole the cure. She wants to bargain for her freedom."
