Ariana ~ April 8th, 1978

Bill throws on a thin lipped smile. "I'm going to go get Quincy myself because Lord knows if I don't, we're gonna be stuck here all night."

I struggle holding my laugh in at his annoyance, Randy doing the same.

Michael

A knock on the door startles both Quincy and myself, I wonder who it could be this time.

I walk over to the door, swinging it wide open to see Bill standing there with his arms crossed. "Are we making these tapes from scratch?" He asks with a smirk, the sarcasm is evident in his voice.

I shake my head and chuckle, Quincy and I could talk about music for hours if life let us. I walk back over to the table and grab the last of the tapes that I want Q to take a listen to and I pack them into a little bag, I pass it to the man and he stands up, walking towards the door.

"I'm sorry, Bill." I apologize, laughing slightly. It's always funny to see him grow a bit impatient with me. He's known me ever since I was a little boy, after all.

"Bill, you need to just see the vision of music." Quincy holds his hands up, theatrically.

"No, you need to use the watches I know damn well the both of you have and check the time." He repeats in Quincy's tone.

I bite my lip to hold back my laughter and watch the two men bicker.

"It's like y'all just forgot about poor Ariana in the living room." Bill rolls his eyes and sighs.

I can feel my eyes grow big but I try to dismiss it, I may have forgotten about Ariana still being here. When I saw her at the door with Quincy, I felt like throwing up honestly.

She's the last person I expected to ever be at that door and I just wasn't ready to see her after that mortifying moment with my brothers. She probably thinks I'm such a loser for how I handled that and I can't blame her. I almost wish I just told my brothers the truth about her but I know that would have only began more teasing and ridicule. My brothers don't see things the way I do, they have no problem disrespecting women if they think it's funny.

I'm just not like that, I would never talk to a lady like Marlon or Randy does. I think that's why I've always struggled with girlfriends and relationships. I was with Stephanie for a bit but I just couldn't see things going long term with her, a lovely girl but just not for me.

Before that, there's only ever been one other woman who I could truly see myself with. She's still in my life and we'll occasionally see each other but it's only ever just fun for her, me on the other hand, if given the chance...I would do anything to make her mine. I would never let a single soul know about her though. The judgement I'd face not only in my family but in my religion isn't worth it to me, especially because we've done-

"Michael?" I hear a snap in front of my face, I look at Quincy who stands there, looking almost concerned. "You zoned out for a bit."

"Oh.." I shake my head quickly, throwing a smile on. "Sorry, just thinking about the music."

Bill slaps my shoulder playfully. "If you could eat music, I think you would."

I push his hand off jokingly and chuckle. "Probably."

"So, are we ready to go, Q? Forget about us, this one's brother is out there harassing the girl." Bill cackles, Quincy laughs too.
