Few days before the Incident...

Jhune's POV

I woke up from a deep sleep due to the deafening sound of the alarm. I grabbed the pillow and covered my face with it.

The buzzing sound and vibration from my phone gradually prevented me from falling asleep again.

Annoyed, I removed the pillow from my face and turned to my side. With my eyes closed, I felt around for my phone, which had surely fallen off the bed while I was sleeping. I couldn’t find it, so I stretched out my arms to reach for it.

I cursed when I suddenly fell off the bed. I must have moved too close to the edge and lost my balance.

"Shit!"

My back hurt from the hard fall. Grimacing, I opened my eyes and grabbed the phone to turn off the alarm.

Damn it! It's to early!

While I was in that position, I heard a series of loud knocks on the door.

"Hey, Jhune! I know you’re in there!" Madam   Lucy yelled from outside as she banged on the door. "Pay your rent!"

Could this day get any worse?

"Damn it." I muttered to myself, hoping she wouldn’t hear me.

Tsk. The way she’s demanding payment, you’d think I owe her a fortune. I’ve only missed one month’s rent because I had to fix the ceiling of my unit, which leaks when it rains.

I got up and let her yell outside. She’ll leave eventually. Yawning, I headed to the bathroom to brush my teeth, but as luck would have it, there was no water!

Annoyed, I left the bathroom and got dressed. Thankfully, my nagging landlady had stopped shouting. I didn’t have time to listen to her complaints anyway.

After changing my clothes, I made my bed before walking to the window. I opened the only window in my room and looked out into the backyard to check if anyone was there.

I smiled when I saw that no one was around. I didn’t want to go through the front in case I ran into her, for sure she will squeeze the money out of my pocket.

I climbed out the window and jumped down. Even though my unit is on the second floor, it’s not too high, so I manage to jump down easily. I often pass through the back, especially when madam lucy is in a bad mood.

I dusted off my hands and ran away from the place.

My name is Jhune Delacruz. Twenty years old, and a omega. I stopped studying for the meantime because I had to earn money for a living. I don’t have a family anymore, so I’ve been supporting myself alone.

Since it was still early, I went to the nearest 7-Eleven to eat. I just bought a sandwich and ate it, then headed to my part-time job for the day.

"Do you have a discount card, Ma'am?" I asked the elderly customer. She nodded and handed me her card. I immediately insert it into the machine and gave her the change.

"Thank you, ma'am. Come again," I said with a smile.

After the customer left, I placed my hand on my neck and shoulders, feeling the fatigue from standing for too long.

I’m working at a mini-mart as a cashier. I was asked by my manager to fill in for extra hours because my colleague didn't show up. Now, I have to endure my back pain because of that bastard again.

I sighed. It’s really hard to earn money.

I noticed a group of students who had just entered the store. I frowned when I recognized one of them.
