Jhune's POV

I paused in front of a café when I noticed a sign on the door that read, 'Wanted: Server.'

'BITTERSWEET CAFE'

I glanced at the paper in my hand. Earlier, while I was out searching for a job, this paper somehow flew in my direction. Seeing that they were hiring, I didn't hesitate to check it out.

I knew I needed to start saving money as soon as possible. I can't stay at Zack's place forever.

As I walked in, I noticed the staff were busy, with the café packed full of customers. I hadn't expected it to be this crowded.

I shrugged and approached the counter, but the staff seemed too preoccupied to notice me. Then I spotted one of them cleaning off to the side.

"Excuse me," I called out to get his attention.

He looked up at me, not saying a word, just staring.

I scratched the back of my neck. "Uh, I'm here to apply for a job." I showed him the job advertisement paper I was holding.

"Part-timer?" he asked.

I nodded. "But I don't have my resume with me yet—" I was surprised when a woman suddenly appeared behind him.

"Part-timer? Did I hear that right?" She scanned me from head to toe.

Startled by her sudden appearance, I still nodded.

"He said he's here to apply, but boss, we're busy right n—" He didn't finish his sentence because she quickly covered his mouth.

"You're hired." she said quickly.

I frowned at her. "Huh?"

"You're hired," she repeated with a smile. "Cain, please take him inside and give him his uniform so he can start working," she said to the man who had just returned from serving, before going back to the counter.

My mouth dropped open. Just like that? I already have a job?

I was about to ask more questions, but the man started walking ahead, so I followed him to the staff room.

He handed me a set of clothes and an apron. "Put these on. Once you're ready, head straight outside and help boss," he said in a serious tone.

He was tall with a broad build. Is he an Alpha? But I can barely sense any strong pheromones from him.

"Alright." I replied. "I'm Jhune, Jhune Delacruz," I introduced myself, extending my hand to him.

He nodded before accepting my handshake. "Cain Santiago," he responded briefly.

Our short conversation was interrupted when the boss called him for assistance. I quickly got dressed so I could head out.

Since I have experience working in a café, I didn't have much trouble adjusting, though I did have to get used to the work environment here.

Their café is really busy, with customers coming in constantly. But what puzzles me is why they have so few staff. It seems like there are only three of us, including the manager.

"Hey," I called out to Cain, who was currently cleaning the table in front of me.

The rush of customers had slowed down a bit, so we weren't as busy at the counter anymore.

He looked at me with a puzzled expression. I gave him a small smile and gestured for him to come closer.

Clearing my throat, I asked, "I’m just curious, why does it seem like we're the only staff here?" I glanced around the café as he approached.
