Jhune's POV

"How is his condition, Doc?" he asked, his voice tinged with hesitation as he glanced at Zack. "Is he going to be okay?"

He seemed really worried. I was also concerned about Zack's condition.

"There's nothing to worry about, Mr. Francisco is okay," the doctor said. "Aside from a minor fracture in his rib, there's nothing else to be concerned about," the doctor explained.

"Are you sure, Doc? Then why did he pass out?" he asked again.

"His body suffered from great fatigue, which gradually weakened him, but with proper rest, he will recover soon enough." the doctor explained.

I breathed a sigh of relief after hearing what the doctor said. I looked down at Zack, who was currently asleep.

His chest and left arm were bandaged, and he had small scratches on his face.

I couldn't help but wonder where he got those injuries.

"I'll prescribe a pain reliever that he needs to take to speed up his recovery," the doctor said, handing Russel the medication. "However, I advise not to give him anything until the fluid infusion is complete," he added, referring to the IV drip connected to Zack.

After the doctor finished giving instructions, he left, leaving us alone in the room.

I continued to stare at Zack, who was still fast asleep. My eyes widened when I noticed his fingers moving, followed by the slow opening of his eyes.

Russel immediately approached him and asked how he was feeling, while I remained standing at the foot of his bed.

I pressed my lips together. I didn’t know what to say.

When Zack’s eyes met mine, I couldn’t see any emotion in them.

It was as if he had become a different person.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Russel call my name.

He gave me a serious look and said, “Could you please leave us for a moment?

Without hesitation, I nodded. I turned around and, with heavy steps, left the room.

I understood that their conversation was private, and they didn’t want anyone else to overhear, especially someone they didn’t know well.

I couldn’t help but give myself a bitter smile. I don't why but my chest felt heavy.

....

Zackary's POV

I kept my eyes on the ceiling, trying to avoid his gaze. I didn’t want to scare him.

When Jhune left the room, I immediately got up from the bed, leaned back against the headboard, and faced Russel.

"I told you I don’t like doctors," I said coldly. "And what’s the deal with all this?" I muttered tiredly. "I just fainted, there’s nothing to worry about."

"What happened?" he asked seriously.

"What do you mean?" I replied nonchalantly.

"All of it. All your injuries. Did the chairman do this to you?" he demanded.

"It’s nothing," I said, closing my eyes and letting out a deep sigh. "Stop nagging me already."

"How could I not?!" He rubbed his temples in frustration. "You didn’t even bother to contact me! Didn’t I tell you not to act recklessly?!" His voice was raised.
