Jhune's POV

"Jhune?" I flinched at the sound of his voice calling my name. "Is something wrong?" His brows furrowed slightly.

"Are you okay?" he asked again, this time with clear concern in his voice.

I pressed my lips together and shook my head, taking a deep breath before mustering the courage to respond.

"I'm fine." Thank God I didn't stutter.

"Are you sure?" His gaze remained fixed on me. "You seem distracted. Your attention isn't here. Is something bothering you?"

I shook my head again. "N-No. I uhm, I'm okay." I lowered my eyes to the steaming plate of food in front of me.

I knew he was going to keep asking questions, so I quickly spoke up to change the topic.

"What were you saying earlier?" I tried to sound casual, though I was sure I still came off as awkward.

I was sitting across from Zack at the table. I didn't know how he could keep a straight face as if what happened earlier was no big deal.

Meanwhile, here I was, not knowing how to face him, especially after that bold proposal. I felt like I had no face left to show him.

"I was asking what kind of juice you'd like. We have a lot, but I wasn't sure which one you preferred," he said before taking a sip of his coffee, his eyes still locked on mine.

I scratched my cheek and shifted my attention to my plate, picking up my spoon and starting to eat.

"I don't like sweet drinks. Water's fine," I replied before taking another bite.

He nodded, stood up, and returned shortly after with a glass of water, placing it in front of me.

I thanked him, though I still couldn't bring myself to look directly at him. I took a sip and continued eating.

Just as I was about to be finished, he added more meat to my plate. I frowned and looked up at him.

"You should eat more," he said with a grin, placing even more food on my plate.

"I'm already full, and you just dumped more food on my plate." I frowned. "Are you trying to feed me until I explode?" I added sarcastically, raising an eyebrow.

He chuckled at my remark, licking his lower lip and leaning his chin on his hand, eyes still fixed on mine.

"That's not what I meant," he said, smiling. "I just want to make sure you're getting all the nutrition you need."

What on earth is he talking about? Did he hit his head?

I furrowed my brows at him. "What for?" I asked, confused. Do I look malnourished or something?

I brushed off the thought and resumed eating, but before I could even swallow my food, he spoke again.

"So, your body can keep up with mine," he said casually, making me choke on my food.

I quickly grabbed the glass of water and gulped it down, struggling to catch my breath before slamming the glass back down. I shot him a glare.

"What the hell?!" I exclaimed, my face heating up as I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand.

"What?" he teased, trying to catch my now-avoiding gaze.

"I know you know what I mean," he said. "There's nothing to be flustered about," he mischievously added.
