Jhune's POV

It has been two days since the controversy involving Zack broke out. I haven't seen him since the issue about his alleged involvement exploded.

Since that day, I haven't been outside, especially with reporters lingering outside Zack's condo unit.

Because of that, I wasn’t able to go to work, and I had to come up with lies to excuse myself for not being able to work.

I unconsciously bit my nails as I felt a surge of worry for Zack. I’ve only known him for barely a year, and I know he wouldn’t do what they are accusing him of.

I trust him. Zack is a good person, I just hope he  could fixed this mess sooner, especially since it’s also affecting his career.

I stared at the phone in my hand. I hadn't received any calls from him or Russel. I was hesitating whether to call him, knowing how chaotic everything must be right now.

I let out a deep sigh and buried myself in the couch. I didn’t know what was happening right now. I didn’t want to turn on the TV, nor did I feel like browsing through social media, especially since all I could see were people's backlash about Zack’s involvement.

For a few hours, I stayed there, consumed by my endless thoughts, until my phone rang. I straightened up and looked at the screen to see who was calling.

I froze when I saw that the call was from Russel, so I immediately answered it, nervously pressing the phone to my ear.

"Russel..." I said.

"Where are you right now?" he asked from the other end.

I frowned. Russel sounds strange, he doesn’t talk like this. "I’m home," I replied.

"Good." I heard him sigh. "Just stay in the condo until we take care of this mess."

"We don’t want things to get even messier,"

I fell silent at his words. That’s exactly what I thought, everything could end up getting messier if  they see me going out of Zack's condo unit.

"Are there still reporters outside?" he asked, so I held the call and peeked through the monitor attached to the door.

"Yes, they’re still outside," I answered when I saw reporters on the hallway.

"Dipshit's," he cursed. "I'll send someone to take care of them to make sure they won’t cause any more trouble." I nodded in agreement.

"That sounds good," I sighed in relief.

"I just called to check on you. I’ll end the call now," he said, but before he could even end the call, I immediately spoke up to ask him.

"What about Z-zack? Where is he?" I couldn’t help but ask.

Russel remain silent for a few seconds, before he responded.

"Don't worry, he’s fine. The reason he hasn’t been in touch with you yet is that he’s busy handling the case," he explained, as if he knew what I meant by my question.

But still, I felt a sense of relief at what he said.

"Uh... I see" I said, pressing my lips together to stop myself from asking more questions. "You guys take care." That was all I could say.

"We will," he replied before ending the call.

That day, I did nothing but stay in my room. I was jolted awake by the buzzing sound of my phone. I turned over and tried to sleep again, but the phone kept ringing.
