Russel's POV

"Thank you, sir. I’ll make sure to call you afterwards."

I sighed deeply as I finally hung up the phone. I massaged my temples upon seeing the mountain of papers that needed to be completed.

Most of the documents I had required Zack’s signature, after all, he is one of the top executives.

The paperwork seemed endless, especially with how busy I’ve been, including the recent call from a major clothing brand regarding an endorsement contract.

Given what happened to him in Moscow, I know he won’t be able to handle everything that needs to be done right now.

I have so much on my plate—so many tasks to complete. I bet I will die before finishing all these papers.

I sighed deeply and let my shoulders slump as I leaned back in my chair. Glancing outside, I noticed it was getting dark. It looked like I’d be working late again.

Overtime means more work, no rest, and a headache. Why does my boss have to be so lazy?

I took a deep breath, stretched my arms, and turned back to the paperwork. But before I could even start, the door suddenly burst open.

I was surprised to see Zack standing there. His face was shadowed, and I couldn’t read any emotion on it.

What is he doing here? He was supposed to be resting.

Holy shit. Why does it feel like he’s killing me with his eyes.

"Why are you here?" I greeted him.

He ignored me and went straight to his desk. I frowned as I watched him meticulously review the documents.

Despite my confusion over Zack’s sudden shift in behavior, I continued with my work, though I couldn’t help but keep glancing in his direction.

Is he unwell? Why did he suddenly come in and become so focused on work?

"Russ." I stopped when he called my name, straightened up, and turned to him.

"What's up?" I responded casually.

"You can go home early today. I’ll make sure to finish all of this by the day after tomorrow." He said without even looking at me.

"Pardon?" I blinked, struggling to process what he had just said.

Am I just hearing things?

"Go home already, I’ll handle things here," he said again, but I just stared at him.

His dark eyes met mine, and his tone was icy. "You heard me, Russ," he said with a hint of annoyance. "Do I need to repeat myself?"

I shivered at the coldness in his voice. What the hell happened to him?

"Are you sure?" I asked, worried. I was confused about whether I should leave him. "I mean, you just got that injury, and now you’re working. You might make your condition worse."

"I'm okay. Go home and rest. I'll be fine," he said.

"Well, in that case, I’ll head out first." I said as I stood up, then turned back to him because I’d forgotten to mention something.

"By the way, Mr. Yuu called again. He asked if it’s possible—" I was cut off before I could finish.

"Set up an appointment for us," he said dismissively, as if he hadn’t refused it not to long ago. "I want it scheduled as soon as possible."
