17. "Stay for dinner."

I get my bag ready to leave Connor's; I'd been here long enough already.

"Emily, leaving already," Meg, Connor's Mum says as I'm coming down the stairs, "It's quite late, why don't you stay for dinner, Matt and Lauren will be back soon anyway. Connor can walk you home later, can't you Con?"

Connor smiles and nods.

"Are you sure, I wouldn't want to intrude," I start, looking over at Connor.

"Of course not darling, you can come over whenever," she replies.

"Yeah, it's cool. Plus, you can meet Lauren and Dad now you've already met Aimee," Connor adds.

I'd met Aimee and she is honestly the cutest child ever. She is quite tall for a 6 year old, with wavy chocolate brown hair and brown eyes. Connor and I played nail painting and hairdressers, princesses and Lego with her for a good hour and a half. It was safe to say Connor and Aimee have a strong sibling bond and it was adorable to see.

"Thank you, I'll just ring Harry and let him know then."

I went into the other room, to not disturb Connor and Meg, who were talking.

"Hi Haz," I say when he answers his phone on the third or fourth ring.

"Hey Em, what's up?"

"I was just letting you know that Connor and his Mum invited me to stay for dinner, so I'll be home a bit late."

"Oh okay, that's fine. Do you need a lift when you're done?"

"No, I think I'll be alright. Meg said she'll get Connor to walk me home."

"Aw how cute," he squeaks in a high pitched voice, "Let me know if you need anything then, I'll talk to you in bit."

"Talk to you in a bit, bye."

I walk back into the kitchen where Connor and Meg were standing talking, as Meg took something out of the oven, the smell wafting in the air.

"Meg, do you need any help with dinner," I ask politely.

"I think everything's done thank you darling, I'm just going to set the table."

I nod, smiling as I walk back into the living room to see Aimee sitting watching TV, until dinner was ready. I went and took a seat next to her.

"You okay, Aimee?" I ask her. She nods before going back and watching "Milly Molly," which she was clearly engrossed in.

Then a commercial came on and she turned her attention to me, staring at my face for a few seconds before saying, "Em, how do you get so pretty?"

I look at her in shock, "Pretty?" She nods.

"Aimee, you're beautiful too, everyone's beautiful," I tell her.

"Is that why Connor always calls you Beautiful," she asks innocently, "He always calls me Princess, does that mean I'm a princess?"

I blush. Apparently, Connor calling me "Beautiful" one time had now stuck, he's officially renamed me.

"Yes Aimee, you are a princess. Who's your favourite princess?"

"Well, I love them all but my favourite is Ariel," she tells me grinning.

"She's my favourite too," I tell, "My favourite Disney film is The Lion King though."

"I love the Lion King too," she says getting up from the sofa and walks towards the TV stand, "Look, we have all of them. Whenever a new one comes out, Con Con always buys me it and then we watch them together."
