To find peace

Irene fell asleep in the cart. She awoke from her sleep as she feels the cart is moving. Irene poke a hole in cabbage basket to see the outside.
Seeing the road, Irene realises that she's outside the region.
"Finally...."
Irene feel relief in her heart. As she's already out from that place, now she needs to find a way to return back home.
Thinking of her way home, it makes Irene misses her father from her world.
She wonders whether she dies in her original world. Is that why she reborn in this novel story?
A lot come into her mind, but she could only wonders while no answer in mind.
Hours later, Irene see that she finally arrives at another town. As the traders stop at the marketplace, and was negotiating with other people. Irene took this chance to walk out. Seeing that none of the people around is looking, Irene gets out from the cart.
As she steps out from the cart, Irene looks at her surroundings.
It is very lively, with all the chatter of the town folks and children running around.
Irene was amazed to see this, as in the world she live none had this kind of environment.
"Fresh baked bread here!"
"A fresh fish here, good offer here!"
"I can offer you 5 pound for this meat!"
Irene can see how busy the marketplace is.
"Hahahahaha you can't catch me!"
"Wait for me, Fred!"
And children running around, chasing one another.
Irene forgot almost every of her problems when seeing this.
Even the air, the breeze is refreshing.
Irene smile and amazed with this kind of surroundings. It feels surreal.
"Hello, milady."
Irene stops as a little girl stood in front of her.
"Would you like some flowers? It only cost you a cent."
Irene look at the little girl, sadly.
"I don't have any coin."
"Oh..." The little girl looks down.
Seeing her state, Irene took pity of her.
"Here, have some bread." Irene then gives her the bread.
Looking at the bread and Irene face, the little girl smile.
"Thank you, kind fairy."
Irene chuckle hearing that. The little girl then waves her goodbye.
Irene then realised if she needs to leave this place, she should find a way first to live. And that is to find a place to stay and work.
Irene continue to look around to see any places to find to work.
As this is not like in the modern world, Irene have to look and ask around.
She needs to find a place where it is hidden and not exposed.
Irene then arrives at the tavern. Opening the doors, she could see there many people inside eating and drinking.
She goes towards the bartender.
"Hello?"
"Ahh...yes, miss? What can I do for you?" An older woman ask.
"Can I see the owner?" Irene asks.
"You're looking at her." The bartender said.
"Oh...I was wondering...if I could work here." Irene ask.
"You? It didn't seem like you can do any work." The bartender stated.
"What do you mean?"
"You're too clean. Like a noble."
Hearing that, Irene was stunned. The bartender have a sharp eyes. Still, Irene can't back down.
"How would you know? I can cook and clean the dishes. You can't just judge me just based on my appearance."
The bartender then click her tongue in annoyance.
"Tsk...look young lady, I don't need any worker here. I'm fine by my own."
"I won't ask for high wages, I just need a place to stay and food to eats. I'm been away from home for so long, just to find a place to work."
The bartender then looks at Irene. Seeing her like this, the bartender feels pity.
"Fine, but if I see that you make a mess in my tavern, I will throw you out."
"Thank you, thank you so much, miss...I mean madam. Ma'am..."
"Call me old Judy. That what everyone call me."
"Yes, thank you, old Judy. I'm....Irene." Irene hesitate at first, but finally introduce herself using her real name.
"Alright Irene, come I show you too your room."
Irene then follow old Judy. She show her to a small room.
"Here you be staying. There a room to bath over there. And here some food to eat. Have some rest today. Tomorrow 8 the morning I want you at the tavern. If I don't see you by then, you're fired."
"No, I promise I'll be there at 8 the morning." Irene promised.
"Alright, see you tomorrow, Irene." Old Judy said, as she leaves.
Irene then sat down with relief, she can finally rest without worries. Starting from now, she needs to adjust her time here with this life. At least for now.
