The next morning Marissa woke up to Fiona still in her arms and Eddie still snuggled between her legs while Logan tried to slip away from them without waking them. He obviously failed as Marissa caught his hand and whispered so as not to wake the others.
"Where do you think you're going?" She asked as he froze realizing he was caught.
"Sorry love," Logan whispered back, "I've gotta go out of town to deal with something today so I need to go pack and get on the road asap. I should be back tomorrow." He went to move away but Marissa held his wrist tight, keeping him from leaving.
"What was part of our agreement in this relationship?" She eyed him hard making it clear that he had more explaining to do. She wasn't about to accept something that vague, even if she did have two adorable humans sound asleep on top of her at the moment.
Logan sighed in defeat. He still didn't like her knowing about their criminal enterprises, but she was right. He had agreed to not keep her in the dark about it, so he had to tell her the truth.
"Now that we have Phillip's new contact it means we can cut off a rather shitty man we've been forced to deal with for a while. So I have to go up and break the news to him that our dealings are over as amicably as possible," Logan whispered before trying to leave again but Marissa still didn't let go of him.
"And you're going alone?!" She whisper-yelled still conscious of the two sleeping bodies on her but also appalled at the idea of him going to do something that could easily go very wrong very fast without any backup. "Why aren't you taking Eddie or Fiona with you?"
"They have to stay and make sure everything gets set up right with our new guy today. It all has to happen kinda at the same time for it to work out," he answered. This time he gently pried her fingers off his wrist before standing to leave.
As he walked away he heard rustling behind him. When he turned to look back Marissa had slid out from her place on the couch with Eddie and Fiona and was walking up to him.
"I'm coming with you," she said with a firm resolve. He went to protest but she held her hand up stopping him. "There's no changing my mind or getting out of it. You need backup up there in case things go south and believe it or not I can give it to you. All I need are my knives, you don't even have to give me a gun if you don't want to."
Logan just stared at her a moment. He absolutely did not want to take her anywhere near danger, especially after what she had just been through last night. But he did also have to admit that she took down a man twice her size all on her own in that bathroom, and came out without even a scratch on her. She probably really could handle herself and be good backup for him.
He let out one of his signature exasperated sighs of defeat before saying, "Fine you can come. But when we're there you stay at my side or directly behind me at all times and you don't say a word unless I speak to you directly. Understood?"
"Understood," she answered pleased she'd made him come around. "I'll go get packed." She kissed his cheek and then went to her room to change.
Marissa changed into a simple loose t-shirt and jeans, strapping a handful of her knives to herself under her clothes where they'd be easy to grab if she needed them. She threw a change of clothes and simple necessities into an overnight bag and then went down to the garage where all three of them were waiting by the car.
"I still don't think you should come," Logan started to say, but this time it was Fiona who cut him off.
"She'll be fine," Fiona said with a smile. "Our girl knows how to handle herself. And I know me and Eddie both feel better that you're not dealing with that prick alone. Who knows what kind of shit little Benny will try to pull when he finds out he won't be able to milk us for all his shit anymore."
