James sat in the passenger seat of his luxurious car, a wide smile on his face. The excitement of finally meeting his niece, Kate, filled him with anticipation. Tom, his ever-reliable secretary, was behind the wheel, navigating the busy streets with practiced ease.

James turned to Tom, his voice upbeat.

James: I can’t wait to see Kate’s reaction when she gets these papers. It’s going to be a great reunion.

Tom nodded, his focus on the road.

Tom: I’m sure she’ll be thrilled. It’s been a long time since she’s seen any family.

As they drove through a quiet intersection, a massive truck, its metal frame gleaming ominously in the sunlight, barreled through the red light. With a thunderous crash, the truck collided with James’s car, sending it spinning uncontrollably. The impact was violent—metal twisted, glass shattered, and the car was thrown across the road.

James and Tom were violently jolted around inside the crumpled vehicle, their bodies thrown against the wrecked interior. The screech of grinding metal and the sound of breaking glass filled the air. The truck skidded to a halt a few meters away, its driver stepping out calmly and approaching the wreckage.

The man, dressed in dark clothing, methodically searched through the wrecked car. He quickly found the papers James was carrying and slipped them into a bag. Satisfied, he left the scene as emergency responders began to arrive.

A few minutes later, sirens wailed as paramedics and police gathered around the wreckage. Onlookers whispered among themselves, horrified by the sight. The paramedics carefully extracted James and Tom from the mangled car, placing them onto stretchers and loading them into ambulances.

At the hospital, the chaos of the emergency room was a stark contrast to the scene outside. A nurse, tasked with sorting through James’s belongings, picked up his phone to find any emergency contacts. Scrolling through the recent calls, she noticed the name “Kate” and decided to call the number.

The phone rang, and Kate answered with joy. “Hello?”

*The Living Room*

Matthew and Kate were seated on the couch in the quiet of the mansion’s living room. Matthew, still reeling from the previous events, sulked a bit. He had been longing for Kate’s affection but hadn’t received any kisses from her, which was making him pout.

Kate, on the other hand, found herself enjoying Matthew’s sulking demeanor. She teased him lightly, letting her lips hover near his but never quite making contact.

Matthew spoke while sulking.

Matthew: Kate, why aren’t you giving me any kisses today?

Kate smiled playfully.

Kate: Maybe I’m just enjoying seeing you like this.

Matthew’s eyes twinkled with a mixture of annoyance and amusement, but before he could say anything more, Kate’s phone rang.

Kate spoke excitedly

Kate: It’s Uncle James.

She answered the call eagerly, but her excitement quickly faded as she listened to the nurse’s voice on the other end.

*on call*

Nurse: Hello, is this Kate? I’m calling from [Hospital Name]. We have two men here, James and Tom, who were in a serious accident. They’re unconscious and in critical condition. Do you know them?

Kate’s heart raced as she recognized the name.

Kate: Yes, I know them. What happened to them? Are they okay?
