*Late Evening*
*At Hospital*Kate sat beside her uncle James's bed, the hospital room was bathed in the muted light of the late evening, with shadows stretching longer as the night quietly approached outside. Matthew and John stood nearby, offering their support while James and Tom rested. Ava, who had been with Kate throughout the ordeal, sat in a corner, her worry evident.
Kate glanced at Ava, her expression a mix of gratitude and concern.
Kate: Ava, I really appreciate everything you've done today. But... I think it's best if you head home now.
Ava looked up, surprised but understanding.
Ava: Are you sure, Kate? I don't mind staying-
Kate: I'm sure. I need to be here for my uncle and Tom. They're doing better now, and I'm okay. You need to take care of yourself too.
Ava nodded, her eyes filled with sympathy.
Ava: Alright. If you need anything, you know where to find me.
Kate embraced Ava briefly, appreciating her friend's unwavering support.
Kate: Thank you. I'll call you if anything comes up.
Ava gave a reassuring smile and headed out, leaving Kate, Matthew, and John in the room. The atmosphere, though still tense, felt a bit more manageable with fewer people present.
As Ava left, Matthew turned to Kate, his voice soft but firm.
Matthew: You've handled everything so well, Kate. We're all here for you, no matter what.
John: Yeah, we're in this together. Just focus on being with your uncle and Tom right now.
Kate nodded, feeling a sense of relief and appreciation for their support. With Ava gone, she settled back into her role as caretaker, determined to be there for her family as they continued to recover.
*At Miller's Mansion*
The grand study in Andrew's mansion was a picture of tense anticipation. Andrew paced the room, his frustration from earlier events now replaced by a calculating focus. The door opened, and the man who had retrieved the papers from James's wrecked car stepped inside with Daniel, holding the valuable documents securely.
Andrew's eyes lit up with a glimmer of satisfaction.
Andrew: Ah, you're back. Did you manage to get the papers?
Daniel nodded, placing the documents carefully on Andrew's desk.
Daniel: Yes, we got them.
Daniel's expression was grim.
Daniel: James and Tom are at the hospital. I overheard that Kate is also there, looking after them.
Andrew's eyes narrowed with interest.
Andrew: Kate is at the hospital? This is perfect. We can use this opportunity. I want you to wait until tomorrow morning. There will be fewer people at the hospital then, Make sure she’s restrained and brought directly to me.
Daniel nodded, understanding the gravity of the task.
Daniel: Understood. What should I do if there's resistance?
Andrew's gaze was cold and calculating.
Andrew: Use whatever force is necessary. I need Kate with me, and she mustn't escape. Once she's in my hands, I'll have a powerful leverage against Matthew and can proceed with my plans.
Daniel: I’ll take care of it, master. She won’t have a chance to resist.
Andrew gave a curt nod, signaling that the conversation was over. Daniel turned on his heel and headed for the door, his face set in grim determination. Andrew remained in his study, plotting his next moves. The thought of kidnapping Kate and using her to control the situation with Matthew filled him with dark anticipation.
