The gag lay discarded on the ground as Kai continued to hold the spoon filled with delicious pasta near Sayuri's closed lips. The red-haired male glared at the younger girl for her stubbornness. Going without food for more than two weeks would easily make anyone give in to their hunger. Yet she sat there, a look of defiance and anger burning in her eyes.

"I won't be paid if you die," Kai said, putting the spoon back in the bowl and lowering his gaze to her clenched fists.

"I'd rather die then because I don't want you to be paid," Sayuri gritted her teeth, turning her face away from the wafting smell of pasta.

"A dead woman can't save anyone," Kai raised the spoon again, his tone more encouraging. "If you escape, which is 100 percent impossible while I'm alive, you will need strength to save your cousin."

"So, I just need to kill you," Sayuri smirked, finally taking a spoonful of pasta. Kai nodded approvingly.

The taste of the pasta melted right in her mouth. It was the most splendid pasta she had ever eaten, even if it came from the guy who had kidnapped her and kept her prisoner. She looked up at Kai with a longing gaze. She really needed the recipe.

"Why do you keep looking at me like that.? Did you fall in love with me at first sight?" Kai teased, raising another spoonful of pasta for Sayuri.

"Love at first sight is boring," she paused while she chewed the pasta. It was truly heavenly. "It's love at first assassination attempt."

Kai frowned, his eyebrows creasing and making him look even more handsome.

"I'm not here to kill you," his glare makes the girl slightly shiver.

Sayuri rolled her eyes. "Then what are you here for? To force-feed me pasta and make sure I'm well-fed while you keep me locked up?"

Kai's expression hardened slightly. "Just eat. You'll need your strength."

Sayuri took another bite, savoring the taste despite her predicament. For now, she would play along, biding her time until an opportunity presented itself.

She hoped it appeared sooner than later.

. . . . . . .

Your eyes opened to a room that resembled a VIP hospital suite. You glanced around, spotting Kazuto curled up near your legs, his tears soaking the white sheet. The door beeped open, making the gamer stir from his nap. His eyes flew open, and with surprising tenacity, he lunged toward you.

"Treasure," he breathed into your ear, "Are you okay? Are you feeling alright? Can you move? Can you hear me?"

His efforts were admirable, but at this moment, he was only being annoying. Your entire body hurts, and you know exactly why.

I was poisoned....

Yukio held Kazuto back as the male tried his very best to get out of the tsundere' s grip, but he was unsuccessful. Yukio's mouth opened slightly as if to say something, but he shut it immediately as Subaru entered the room with a file.

"She is fine for now. I have checked her vitals, but I am not sure if the antidote is working. This is the first time it's being used on a human." Subaru tapped the pen on the file, his silver-rimmed eyes not breaking contact with you as he continued. "I need to monitor her condition until further notice."

Kazuto's eyes became milky with a sudden intensity, and he collapsed to the floor. His knuckles turned white. He picked himself up, his body radiating anger as he stormed out of the room.

He needed to blowout some steam. He needed to hunt.

Subaru and Yukio exchanged glances, knowing exactly where he was headed. To hunt. Not animals, but humans. It was a sick hobby he shared with Akira, but their styles varied. Akira's hunting was more psychotic which couldn't even be explained, while Kazuto saw humans as mere animals, shooting them without mercy.
