I drove through the streets of Kitalo City with my windows down on one of the hottest days of the year. Many people were happily strolling the streets, everyone obviously glad to be able to spend a day not having to stress about work, school or any other responsibilities.

I myself was ecstatic, driving to Dominic's place so we could hang out for the first time in a hot minute. As I got closer to his place, I had the sudden urge to bother Toya a little, my intrusive thoughts winning as I dialed her number and impatiently waited to hear her voice through the line.

"Baby wanga," she answered in her now familiar greeting, her voice spreading a smile onto my face.

"How is it my free day and I'm not spending it under you?" I taunted.

"Gosh, Towa." she said, and I heard the blush in her voice. "Uzasiya liti misala aise?"

"Sindizasiya ine." I laughed. "Get used to it, baby."

"Ugh, I don't know how to answer your question. You know I'm with the girls today."

"I didn't know the girls were more important than me." I whined annoyingly, the sigh I heard through my speaker tickling me.

"You're literally gonna see me later," Toya sucked her teeth and followed that with a fond chuckle. "Stop being a baby."

"Fine, but I miss you." I said seriously now. "Can't wait to see you at the party."

"Same, baby." she declared sweetly. "Ooh, Chey's here. I gotta go."

She hung up before I could even say bye, she was clearly excited about the free time in which she got to hange out with her girls. I let her be, pulling up in front of Dominic's high rise building and heading up to his penthouse on the fifteenth floor.

A beaming Dominic opened his front door, eyes bright as he pulled me into a hug and bellowed the words 'my friend,' making me laugh. In truth, his excitement was relatable. We'd both been so busy at the U. Nkhata Studios that today's public holiday and the coming couple of weeks we'd allocated for rest and rejuvenation before the first leg of the tour began were highly appreciated.

"Come in, dude!" he hastened, like I was moving too slowly for his liking.

"You need to relax, man." I laughed as I followed him past the tabletop football game set in the space that others would have allocated for a dining table, towards the huge beanbags randomly set up on a dark rug. Nothing screamed bachelor more than Dom's place. "What are we doing today?"

"I don't know, but best believe I'll get a nap in somewhere."

"Haven't you napped already?" I laughed. "I refuse to believe that sleep is that good."
