As Xue Yang and Lan Minghui smiled at each other, a hand tapped her shoulder.
"Hey, sorry to interrupt this cutesy lovey-dovey scene, but care to explain a little more about this? And are we going to go find the Yin Iron?" Wei Wuxian called.
"What lovey-dovey scene?! Get your head out of your ass! Or do you need to get it pulled out because it's too far down?" Xue Yang demanded.
Lan Minghui let out a small burst of laughter. "Wei-gongzi, this was a former shidi of mine, Xue Yang, courtesy name Xue Chengmei. And A-Yang, why do I have to do your introductions for you?"
Xue Yang smiled abashedly, or so he tried. His tone dripping with sarcasm, he said, "I'm sorry, Jiejie. This small one is Xue Yang, courtesy name Xue Chengmei, guest disciple of the Qishan Wen Clan." He blanched slightly at the last segment of his introduction.
"Wait, the Qishan Wen Clan?" Wei Wuxian frowned, surprised.
"Yes, I forgot to tell you, Wei-gongzi—"
"Aiya, Lan-er-guniang, stop Wei-gongzi-ing me! We're so familiar with each other already! You can just call me Wei Wuxian. Oh, and Xue Yang, I'm Wei Ying, courtesy name Wei Wuxian of the Yunmeng Jiang Clan."
Lan Minghui nodded, slightly amused. "Okay, Wuxian. Then don't Lan-er-guniang me either; it's Minghui to you now. Returning to the topic: a couple years ago, A-Yang left the Gusu Lan Clan, saying that his reason to do so was that it felt too stifling with so many rules. However, in a letter he wrote to me, he stated that there was another reason behind it, one that wouldn't be safe to reveal through mail."
Lan Wangji, who, with the rest of the group, joined them, greeted Xue Yang politely, though Lan Minghui could detect a suspecting tone to her brother's voice. "Xue-shidi."
Xue Yang smiled up at him, though it wavered slightly. "Lan-er-gongzi."
Jiang Cheng awkwardly interrupted the moment. "So, is the Yin Iron with the Yueyang Chang Clan or not?"
"No, I have it," Xue Yang answered. Introducing himself to Nie Yilian and Jiang Cheng, he said, "Xue Yang, courtesy name Xue Chengmei, guest disciple of the Qishan Wen Clan."
There was a schwing as Jiang Cheng unsheathed Sandu, his eyes warily fixed on Xue Yang. "He's from the Qishan Wen Clan?"
Lan Biyun pulled his arm back.
"Jiang-gongzi, don't hurt him," she explained firmly. "He is a former shidi of mine, and a friend of my sister's. It seems that he was coerced or threatened—or maybe both—to join the Qishan Wen Clan. It's nice seeing you again, Xue Yang."
Jiang Cheng put away Sandu, slightly embarrassed by his reaction, and introduced himself, a slightly stiff and suspicious edge still present in his voice. "Jiang Cheng, courtesy name Jiang Wanyin of the Yunmeng Jiang Clan."
"Nie Yilian of the Qinghe Nie Clan."
"Xue Yang, how did you locate the Yin Iron?" Wei Wuxian asked.
Before the younger boy could answer, two people, one dressed in white and the other in black, landed in front of them, their swords unsheathing and pointing at Xue Yang. It was Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan.
