hello, I have returned.  I just wanted to thank you guys for 700 reads! I know this story isn't the most popular but I'm happy that at least a few people are reading and enjoying my writing. -bunny ૮꒰ ˶• ༝ •˶꒱ა ♡

Ei looks at her phone with a shocked face. "this- this isn't possible... you said he was dead."

"he was. I saw his body" I said

"I-it's probably a prank..." Ei said, her voice shaking.

"maybe," I said

Ei looks deep in thought before she speaks again "I gotta go. I have a c-class to study for."

"I thought we were going to see Aether?" I said

"Sorry. I can't. t-tell him t-that I'm happy he's s-safe" ei says walking back to her dorm before I could answer.

"she's probably grieving," I thought as I walked back to Lumine's dorm "She just needs time. I just can't stop thinking about the text ei got. could it really be him, but I saw his body" 

"ajax?" 

"hmm?" I say losing my train of thought. lumine is standing in the doorway.

"Are you ok?" she says looking up at me with a concerned face

"Ya, I'm fine. How's Aether?" I say

"he's better now. he's asleep in my room. he looked exhausted" lumine says walking into her dorm.

"ya, he did," I say following her. I sit down at the kitchen table.

"do you want coffee?" she asks

"No, I'm good. I won't be able to sleep" I say

Lumine makes herself a cup of coffee and sits down next to me at the kitchen counter. "there's something that's been bugging me all day."

"what's that?" I ask

"Where did you find Aether?" she asks taking a sip of her coffee

"I found him in an alleyway. he was battered and bruised." I say hoping she doesn't see through my lie

"But who kidnapped him in the first place" she says "Why would someone take him of all people"

I notice tears begin to well up in her eyes. I wrap an arm around her shoulders and pull her closer "They probably picked someone random. it could've been anyone"

"by why take him and not ei?" lumine says as tears begin to fall

"Hey don't cry," I say as I take her face in my hands.

lumine nods and I pull her closer. I can't help but wonder if the text Ei got meant anything.
