LAINEY WATCHED AS HER BEST FRIEND TALKED TO HER SISTER. her eyes were daggers, and if looks could kill- kate would be dead. lainey still hasn't told tyler that kate was sister, and lainey never really wanted to tell him. she didn't think it was a big deal if tyler knew kate was her sister- but now lainey realized she might be losing him to her.

kate who was the favorite child.
lainey was always put last to kate. her mother loved kate more than lainey. lainey survived a literal tornado when she was 12, and no one cared until kate survived a tornado years later. kate was the smartest out of the two, she was the prettiest, she got the guys, she got everything. lainey had her own accomplishments, but no one cared because kate got the same ones. lainey's trophies from her sports were thrown into a closet, but kates science fair ribbons and posters were on display for everyone to see.
tyler was the only thing lainey had left going good for her, and kate was about to take him away. "why are you staring?" dani asked, standing next to lainey. lainey ignored the girl, glaring at her sister. lainey wanted to scream and throw herself into a tornado. "lainey?"
lainey turned away, stomping her way to the truck. she got in the passenger side of the truck and just stared out the window. she never felt like this before. why did she care so bad if kate took tyler? it's not like she had feelings for him. yeah, he was cute, and he had a great smile, and he had a great body. he cared for lainey, and was always there for her. they occasionally cuddled, and tyler occasionally kissed her forehead- but thats besides the point! lainey did not have a crush on tyler owens.
lainey looked up to see tyler walking towards the truck, ordering his team to do things. he got in the truck, "why are you sitting in here?" he asked, making lainey press her lips together before she said anything that would cause an argument, "lains, what's wrong?"
"nothing." lainey replied, pulling on the sleeve of tylers flannel.
boone, ben, and lily got in the truck before tyler could say anything back, "lets drive!" boone called out, making tyler sigh and turn on the truck. they zoomed out of the parking lot, lainey just staring out the window.
"oh, they must see the storm too, they just passed dexter and dani." lily called out, looking through her drone camera.
"so what's the deal with her?" ben asked from the backseat.
lainey shut her eyes, waiting for tyler to answer, since he was all buddy-buddy with her. "why don't we focus on our story, ben." tyler replied, looking over at lainey, wondering why she was so upset with kate.
