4. Math Problems

these first few chapter mightve seemed a bit boring but i actually wanna build the story and y/n's character, of course it will get better as it goes on

The next day at school you chewed on your pen as you tried to work out the math problem in front of you.

You hadn't asked Yaoyorozu for help all day. You were trying to be mindful of everyone else in the room.

But this question was really hard.

"Yaoyorozu?—" You started asking as you turned your head. But you didn't know what to do when you saw that her seat was empty.

"She's not here today." The boy who sat behind you said.

You had no idea what his name was. You just knew him because of his hair and eyes, both were two different colors and very noticeable.

"Oh." You said quietly. "Sorry—"

You were about to turn back around when he stopped you.

"Wait— What do you need help with?" He asked.

"It's nothing" You said. "I don't want to bother you."

"I already finished my work." He said back. "I can help you"

But I don't know your name. This is gonna be awkward because I know I was already told it. Oh well.

You put your notebook down on his desk and pointed at the problem that you had written out. "I don't even know where to start."

"You have to start with the stuff in parentheses." He said.

You looked at the problem again. "Oh."

You took a second to do everything that was in the parentheses. "Now what?"

Todoroki walked you through the rest of the problem, you asked questions along the way that he was always able to answer quickly, and for the first time in your life math was making sense.

(her mom doesn't see academics as important. so y/n is kinda dumb since she never been to school before and her mom barely taught her anything) (ok she's not dumb, she was just never taught any of it)

Throughout the rest of class Todoroki helped you with every question you had. And every time Mineta turned to say something Todoroki would glance at him with the coldest look ever, but you didn't notice that since you were too busy focusing on your work.

Aizawa mentioned that by the end of the week he wanted everyone to choose a class rep. You didn't know what that entailed so you asked Todoroki.

"Someone who you think should lead the class basically." He said. "Like if the teacher weren't here, you'd be able to count on them."

"Oh." You said as you tapped your pen against your chin.

This is boutta be really awkward...

"Um..." You said softly. "What's your name?"

Todoroki blinked at you.

"I know that Yaoyorozu already told me it!" You quickly blurted out. "I just don't really remember names well... Sorry."

"It's fine. My name is Todoroki." He said.

You wrote that down at the corner of your notebook page so you wouldn't forget. "Yes! That sounds very familiar!"

I could count on him when the teacher isn't here.

You decided that you would vote for Todoroki for class rep. He seemed like a good choice.
