18. Moving

You were sitting on a bench outside of school shortly after it let out. Most students had already left and begun their walks home, but most teachers didn't get out yet, so you were waiting.

"L/n" Yaoyorozu said as she walked over to you. "Wanna walk with me? I'm about to leave."

"I go home a different way now." You explained. "I don't live over there anymore."

She tilted her head at you. "Where do you live now?"

You pointed your arm in the opposite direction of your old house. "Somewhere over there, I don't remember exactly where."

"Are you going to be okay getting home then?" Todoroki asked as he walked over. He wasn't standing too far away, so he had overheard your conversation without meaning to. "If you don't remember where maybe it would be a good idea for us to walk you."

You shook your head. "Thank you both, but I'm okay."

A hand patted the top of your head and ruffled your hair.

"Of course she's okay" Midnight said from behind you.

You tilted your head back so you could see Midnight. "Hi" You said with a small smile.

"Hi kiddo!" She said back with a big smile. "Let's get going, and just so you know your friends can come over whenever you'd like, they can even sleepover!"

That sounded fun.

"Is a sleepover exactly what it sounds like?" You asked.

Midnight nodded her head.

You looked back over at Todoroki and Yaoyorozu. "Do you want to sleepover one day?"

Yaoyorozu nodded her head instantly. "Sounds fun!"

Todoroki didn't answer, but you were staring at him intently, waiting for him to respond.

When he realized that you were waiting for him he poked his chest with his index finger and tilted his head. "Me too?"

"Mhm" You hummed as you nodded. "I'd say that you two are my closest friends— my only friends really."

Todoroki glanced at Midnight, silently asking if it were okay for him to also sleepover. He thought she might say no because he's a boy.

Midnight nodded her head. "If you'd like to, Todoroki, you can."

Todoroki looked back at you, you were already smiling because Yaoyorozu had said yes, he imagined in his head you smiling even more if he agrees.

So he nodded his head. "I would like to." Just as he expected, your smile grew.

You stood up from the bench and clasped your hands together excitedly. "It would be too short notice for today, so do you wanna have the sleepover tomorrow? I know finals are soon, but we could study at the sleepover and have fun at the same time!"

Yaoyorozu and Todoroki both nodded.

"Sounds good!" Yaoyorozu said. "I can bring a scary movie for us!"

"I love movies!" You suddenly said. "Please bring it! We have a lot of popcorn!"

She nodded. "I will, this is gonna be so fun! I just have to tell my parents, goodbye L/n!"

You waved to her as she started walking away.

"I'll leave a note for my father" Todoroki said as he took a step back. "Goodbye Y/n, goodbye Midnight. Thank you for the invitation."

"Goodbye" You both said as he turned and started walking with Yaoyorozu.

"Ready to go?" Midnight asked. "We're gonna do some shopping today, you need more clothes."

You nodded your head. "I'm excited for our sleepover"

Midnight smiled. "I'm glad"

As Todoroki and Yaoyorozu were walking, he looked over his shoulder at you walking the opposite way with Midnight.

"She doesn't live with her mother anymore" Yaoyorozu said. "What do you think happened?"

"I'm sure we'll find out soon enough" Todoroki answered. "Nothing stays out of the media for long nowadays."

Yaoyorozu hummed in agreement. "I'm glad she lives with Midnight, she's so nice and understanding of everything."

Todoroki nodded as he looked ahead again. "And you could tell she adores Y/n"

"I could tell someone else adores her." Yaoyorozu said with a hint of laughter in her voice.

Todoroki looked at her with a blank expression on his face. "Are you talking about me?"

Yaoyorozu laughed a bit and then nodded her head.

Todoroki glanced at you again over his shoulder. "I guess I do. She deserves it. I don't know how to describe it but she's different from everyone else. She's very sweet for someone who has gone through everything she has— and she's very strong."

Yaoyorozu 'awwed'. "That was sweet! But I know what you're saying"

Todoroki nodded. "That's why I like her." Yaoyorozu smiled. "She does deserve it."

That day Midnight took you to a mall for the first time in your life. There were so many different stores. She let you pick out clothes wherever you wanted, and she even suggested stuff that she thought would look good on you. You were confused by some of the clothes though, apparently shirts that were half missing were in style. It confused you though because it felt weird to have a shirt that showed your stomach, or a shirt with a collar so low that it showed your cleavage. But Midnight said it looked good, so you decided to try it to make her happy.
When you got back to her house and you both started pulling the tags off all the clothes she had just bought, she turned to you.

"By the way Y/n" She said. "I spoke to Principal Nezu and he said that you don't have to participate in the finals. We don't want to overwhelm you with everything that's going on."

You thought about that for a second. You did have a lot going on. Apparently you'd have to see your mother again before she's officially charged and arrested for good. They needed you to go to trial. Midnight had also taken you to see your first doctors, one of them ran some tests and told you that you had numerous concussions that never had the chance to heal, and another spoke to you for a couple of hours and then told you that you most likely had more than just anxiety.

You nodded your head. "That makes sense."

"And then if you don't need anything else, you're all ready for your sleepover tomorrow!" She said. "I'd recommend you sleep downstairs on the couches in the living room, there's more room down there than in this room."

"Okay" You said. "We can eat popcorn, right?"
"Of course, you don't even have to ask" She answered. "And if you want anything else for the sleepover let me know and I'll run out and get it."

"Thank you" You said as you pulled off the last tag off the last article of clothing. "Thank you for letting me have a sleepover and for being so nice to me."

Midnight smiled and walked around your bed to get to you, when she did she gave you a big hug. "You're so welcome! And don't feel bad about asking for anything! I love having you here and I'd do anything for you!"

You nodded your head. She told you that before, but you would still feel guilty when asking for something from her. You couldn't really explain it, but sometimes you felt like a burden.

I'm not gonna go into detail with the whole trial thing, mainly because I don't actually know how it works

And yeah, she won't be participating in finals because they don't want to overwhelm her and because i don't wanna write it hehehe.
