10. Giving Up?

"I want you to win." Your mother said.

You were sitting next to her in the stands after the cavalry battle ended, just about everyone else was getting lunch while you two stayed there.

"I know." You said as you nodded.

The tournament was about to begin in a few minutes and you were nervous. Your first couple of matches should be easy enough, but you knew that you had the possibility of facing Bakugo a few rounds in, and now you were also a bit worried about fighting Todoroki.

Your first match was against someone from the support course, so you weren't worried about that.

"You didn't tell me that boy's father was Endeavor." Your mother suddenly said.

Who? Shoto? Must be.

"I didn't know" You said back.

Your mother nodded and hummed. "He's a good enough option then. Good family, money, strong quirk— only thing is I don't like that scar, but whatever."

What is she talking about?

You didn't have much time to think about it since Present Mic announced that the tournament would be starting.

"Win." Your mother said as you stood up to walk down to the waiting area.

"I will." You said with fake confidence.

Just as you thought, your first couple of matches were easy. You didn't have to use too much power, but your feet were still killing you.

After each of your matches you went to see what your mother had to say about them. She basically just told you the same thing each time, win.

But now the next match was actually going to be a challenge. It was against Todoroki. And just a few matches ago you watched him use 100% of his power against Midoriya, making this twice as hard for you now that he was using both fire and ice.

You didn't even know he was able to use that much fire, and now that you knew who his father was you were sure it wouldn't be simple.

You had ten minutes until the match, right now you were looking around the arena for your mother, she wasn't in her seat for whatever reason.

You could faintly hear her voice as you walked around the hallways searching for her.

"Mother?" You called.

You rounded the corner and saw that she was speaking with Endeavor.

This man is intimidating...

You thought about just slowly walking away in the direction you came from, but your mother called you over.

"Y/n, come over here." She said as she waved you over.

Oh boy.

You cautiously walked over and stood next to her awkwardly, looking up at Endeavor who seemed very mad for whatever reason but that might've just been his face.

"This is Endeavor as you know" Your mother said with a smile. "We were just discussing you and Shoto."

Oh. Okay? Like the match?

"Yes." Endeavor said as he crossed his arms and looked down at you. "You seem to be doing well in the festival so far, I'd like to see how well you perform against my son. I see you've got a strong quirk."

You nodded your head, not really knowing what else you were supposed to do.

"And based on how well you do in your match against him, I will get back to you Ms. L/n." Endeavor said before starting to walk away.
