15. Cold Soba

Didn't change things

As soon as you walked into the restaurant Midnight groaned.
                       
"I'm sorry guys, I forgot something back at the gym" She said with a disappointed look on her face. She held her hand out and in between her fingers she held a card. "You two go ahead, I'll try to be back soon. Just don't max out my card of course"
                       
Todoroki looked down at the card and then awkwardly took it. (we all know he's awkward, it's cute ok) "Okay... Do you want us to order you something?"
                       
Midnight waved her hand and started walking backwards. "Just get me whatever Y/n's getting but to-go!" She said before rushing out the door.
                       
You both stared at the door for a moment before looking at each other.
                       
"That was strange." You said.
                       
Todoroki nodded in agreement.
                       
A waitress came over and led you both to a table. She put down two menus and smiled before walking away.

Todoroki took one of the menus and opened it. You got curious and opened the other one.
                       
"Oh it's a bunch of food" You said quietly to yourself as you looked over the menu.
                       
Todoroki looked away from his menu and up at you. "Have you ever been to a restaurant before?"
                       
You shook your head.
                       
"Do you know what you want to eat?" He asked.
                       
"Ummm..." You scanned the menu one last time and shook your head. "I don't know what any of this is, I'll just get the same thing as you"
                       
"Okay" He said as he closed his menu. "Do you know what you want to drink?"
                       
"What do you want to drink?" You asked.
                       
"I'm just getting water" He answered.
                       
You nodded your head. "I'm okay with water"
                                              
Todoroki thought back to when your eyes lit up from the jolly rancher.                                                                                                                                   
"Actually—" He suddenly said. "I think I'll get a soda"
                       
Maybe you had a sweet tooth. Todoroki knew that chances were you never had soda before, and when he saw your head tilt a slight bit in confusion he knew he was right.
                       
"I will also have a soda then" You said despite your confusion. You folded your hands on the table, it somehow made you feel like you knew what you were about to drink.
                       
The waitress returned to your table and you just sat there while Todoroki ordered everything, including something to-go for Midnight.
                       
You watched the waitress as she walked away. "Is she gonna cook everything herself?"
                       
When you heard Todoroki chuckle you looked away from the waitress and turned to him. "What?"
                       
He shook his head while still smiling. "She's the waitress. She's gonna tell the cook our order and then bring it out to us"
                       
"Oh." You said just as the waitress returned and put two sodas on the table. As she walked away you turned your head from Todoroki. "...I've never been to a place like this before, I don't know how it works"
                       
You poor girl. You thought he was laughing at you.
                       
His smile dropped when he realized you were upset. "L/n, I didn't mean it like that"
                       
But you already convinced yourself that he was making fun of you— which was very easy for you to do.
                       
"L/n" He said again when you didn't turn to look at him. He reached across the table and put his hand over yours to get your attention. "Y/n, I wasn't laughing at you. I know you've never been to a place like this before"
                       
"Why were you laughing?" You asked, you finally looked back over at him.
                       
"I thought your curiosity was cute" He said. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean for it to come off that way"
                       
Cute. Cute. Cute?!
