Avantika couldn't stop thinking about what Aditi told her. She reached home after college and stayed in her bedroom for the entire time until her father asked her to help him in the kitchen as her mom was ill and now the father and the daughter duo will be cooking dinner today.
"What should we cook for tonight?" Her Dad asked.
"I don't know," She said, as she was least interested in this topic.
"Let's cook rice and rajma," Her father suggested.
On one kadhai utensil, he started putting oil, then some masale while he asked her to chop off some tomato and onion. Then he put some spices and in the end, the rajma beans.
On the other utensil, a pressure cooker, they made a measurement of water with respect to rice and now, all they have to do is to wait for it to be prepared.
She was looking at the utensil, but her mind was somewhere else, and she finally asked her Dad, "Papa, there was a riot a few years ago, do you remember? Were the Hindus the bad people or the Muslims?"
"Neither Hindus nor Muslims, people aren't bad, Avantika, nor religions are. It's just some people, the radical people and the politicians, they are the bad ones," He told her.
"How was the riot started? Who fueled it? Was that politician Karan Veer Sharma involved too?" She asked, if Advait's uncle was involved, then it's possible Advait was involved too.
"The riot was started when one kid was killed by some group of violent people over some minor dispute. Now, I don't want to tell you what the religion of the kid was or what the religion of those violent people was. Kid was just a kid, and those violent people were violent. Those violent people should had been punished, there is no doubt in that but what politicians like Karan Veer Sharma did was to take matters in their hands and killed those violent people but alongwith the violent people, they ended up killing someone who was innocent. In this way, the other religious group retaliated and then the riot started and the politicians kept fueling it until there were too many dead bodies in the riot," Her father explained all about it.
Then her father continued, "Now, Avantika, what you need to understand about the riot is that they can be always stopped if the politicians and radicals aren't involved."
She nodded her head.
But what she got to know makes her now think that Advait was likely to be involved and Aditi wasn't lying. It wasn't hard to understand the story even if though her dad tried to be cryptic about.
The Kid that was killed was a Hindu. The violent thugs were Muslims. Karan Veer Sharma is the Hindutvawadi leader, so he stepped in and got those violent thugs killed. In doing so, they probably ended up killing someone who was innocent too. Then Muslims retaliated and then Hindus retaliated. Advait was supplying guns to the Hindu rioters and this is the whole story.
She was sad, dejected, angry, and feeling so many emotions at once. She loved Advait so much but he's a killer, or at least he indirectly led people to be killed.
The dinner was cooked, the all three ate together while Avantika was less interested in food. She ate and went to her room and kept thinking about it.
How can she love a man like Advait? But she was also thinking that she can change Advait. Advait is influenced by his radical uncle but if he is in relationship with her, she can surely show him how to keep humanity above. This dilemma was making her feel guilty that even now she thinks she can change the person and less bothered about the fact that the man is a...Advait is a killer. He has blood on his hands.
She hardly slept at night and in the morning she had no energy to go to college. So she stayed home, telling her parents she isn't feeling well. The entire day she kept thinking and kept ignoring calls and texts by Aditi.
Around 11 pm at night, she got one message by Advait, "See you tomorrow on our first date."
