22. What's the Truth

Chapter-22

Avantika reached Aditi's house, she was about to stay the night there. As she stepped inside the bedroom, Aditi was waiting for her. But Avantika didn't want to talk to her.

"What's wrong?" Aditi had to ask when she saw the facial expressions of Avantika.

"I ruined the date. No, I didn't. You ruined my date. You ruined it with your fake ass rumor story that isn't even true. Why you had to tell me that?" Avantika said.

"Did you confront him over that?" Aditi asked.

"I did. And guess what, it wasn't him supplying weapons to the rioters but helping a family who was being threatened. And guess what, no one dies in the story, nothing happens, yet you called him murderer and i called him murderer and now he probably hates me or finds me annoying or thinks that I am stupid," Avantika was taking out her anger on her best friend but that's what besties are for.

"Wait, so he had no involvement with rioters?" Aditi asked.

"None. Whoever told you that, it was a lie," Avantika said.

"This can't be true. Why would he lie about that?" Aditi seemed confused.

"A 'he'? A guy? Rishabh? Who told you the story?" Avantika asked.

"No, not Rishabh, but someone else. I don't know why would he lie about it, it doesn't make sense," Aditi said.

"Who's he? Can you tell me?" Avantika asked.

Aditi wasn't sure at first and maybe didn't want to share but then she said, "Arjun. Advait's best friend. He's the one who told me all this."

"Why would he do that?" Avantika wondered.

"I have no idea at all," Aditi said.

This is getting confusing now. Either Advait lies about his non-involvement and the fake story around helping a family or Arjun lied about it. It would make sense if Advait lied, why wouldn't he? He would want to keep his image clean but Arjun lying? That too about his best friend? Doesn't make sense.

"Do you know Arjun and Mehwish are in a relationship, I saw them doing "it" and it seemed they are totally into each other," Avantika told Aditi.

"Arjun and Mehwish? That's really some gossip. But it still doesn't tell us why would he lie about Advait. I think it's Advait who lied to you and because you are in love, you just can't see it," Aditi said.

"He didn't lie," Avantika confronted.

"Are you sure?" Aditi asked.

Avantika couldn't say anything. She trusts Advait but the fact that he shares good bond with his uncle makes her not so sure what might be the truth.

"I need to find the truth, I just can't let these thoughts get over my head and ruin my chances of love," Avantika said.

"Then ask Advait to allow you to meet the family he helped," Aditi siad.

"I can't. He will think I don't trust him. I will have to find the family myself and then I will find the truth but how can I find them? I don't even know the names or anything." Avantika shared.

"Don't worry, we will find a way," Aditi said.

They had few more conversations and now even Aditi is invested into all of this. She checked Arjun's insta profile and his Facebook and other social media and found one picture that seemed odd.

It was a picture of Arjun with Karan Veer Sharma. She showed it to Avantika as well and said, "I don't think he lied about it. Arjun is close to Advait and maybe close to Karan Veer sharma too. He knows what goes behind the closed door. So he knows the dark secrets of Advait."

Avantika didn't want to believe in it but she had no other logical reasoning to confront it.

"I will meet the family and then I will decide," Avantika finally said.

"I want to help but how are we going to find the family?" Aditi asked.

"While we were talking, Advait indirectly mentioned that he helped them with some money too but this leads to nothing. Not like I can find records of his transactions. Who else might know about the family? We can't ask Arjun. Wait, I think I know what can be done," Avantika said.

"What?" Aditi asked.

"Your bitchy cousin Payal might know, you have to ask her," Avantika said.

"No way," Aditi said.

"Yes way," Avantika replied.
