As soon as I had woken up the next day I had thrown myself into my research into what I had been told by Tara. Of course I wasn't going to tell them about the fact that apparently I belonged with them, but I did ask them about the blessings part.
I was currently reading a book on different abilities that humans could end up having, none of them fit the description of what I was having. I had also been looking into reincarnation, must to the guys' dismay, but nothing else was fitting.
I was just about to give up reading this book as there was a knock on my door. "Come in." I told whoever was at the door as I set the book down on my bed.
"Hey, Namjoon wants us all in his office." Hoseok told me and I got up, leaving the book open on my bed.
Hoseok led the way to the office although I knew the way already, but as I stepped inside the air was tense. The tension in the air was so strong it was almost suffocating. I looked over towards Namjoon's desk and I could see what look liked an alter of sorts.
There was a bunch of symbols drawn in what looked like chalk, and there were candles that were lit at different intervals of the circle as a big metal cup sat in the middle of the cup. The cup almost resembled a wine glass, if it had been made out of glass. The knife next to the circle was the last thing that I had noticed, the same one that I had used for the blood contract.
"Not to sound like a scaredy cat or anything, but um who was possibly performing a satanic ritual in here?" I asked as all the eyes in the room were drawn to me as I just stared down at the knife.
"No one was preforming a satanic ritual, Namjoon finally got all the stuff together for the bloodstone ritual." Jimin said from where he stood leaning against the wall beside one of the bookshelves.
"Gotcha, makes more sense now. I thought maybe you guys were sacrificing something to some god or whatever." I said as I shrugged softly, should have known better.
"Like we would sacrifice anything to a god. Have you seen how bad the world is? A god wouldn't do anything to help it, they aren't already and this is their creation." Yoongi said and I had to agree with him there, the world was very messed up.
"Enough about sacrifices and gods. This is a serious moment, this ritual isn't to be taken lightly." Namjoon said as I looked back up at him, it was then that I knew that all the tension in the room was coming from him. He was the tension.
I stepped more into the room, stepping towards the desk and him as I tried not to be scared away by the look on his face. "So what do we need to do for this ritual?" I asked him as I looked over the top of his desk again as I had come closer.
"All of us will need to cut ourselves and put our blood in the chalice for the first part." Namjoon told me as I nodded, stepping a bit closer as I looked at anything besides that knife.
"I'm going to guess this is going to take more than the contract did?" I asked him and he nodded as I now stood in front of the desk. I held my hand out for the knife and he handed it to me.
I held the knife in my hand for a bit picking up my other hand, that should be able to put enough blood in the chalice, right? Just as I set the blade to my hand, I stopped myself.
"Wait a sec, as soon as my blood falls you guys aren't about to all like vamp out on me right?" I asked them and I heard a few of them in the room try to cover up their laugh but fail, Namjoon just sent me a disapproving look. "I'm sorry, I just had to make sure." I told him as he just shook his head, but none of them had exactly given me any type of confirmation yet.
"No, none of us are going to 'vamp out on you' as soon as you start bleeding. You're completely safe here." Hoseok told me and I nodded softly before closing my eyes softly, this was going to hurt.
I opened my eyes back up as I grabbed the blade of the knife with my one hand, making sure my grip was tight before using my other hand to pull it through. I hissed at the sting, and held my hand over the chalice as my blood dripped into the cup. I set the knife down as I watched the blood fall from my hand.
Once the dripping slowed down I stepped back from the desk. My hand still hurt like hell, but my attention was drawn back to the desk as the others all crowded around it. I could barely see as they all gave their own donation to the cup, but as they stepped away none of them were bleeding like I still was.
Jin came up to me and wrapped some gauze around my cut as I watched Namjoon work. "I'll take care of your hand later, I can't heal you until after." He told me and I just nodded as Namjoon added some other things to the chalice before lighting a match and tossing it into the cup.
There was some smoke and then Namjoon was pouring the chalice's contents onto what looked like a red stone. The whole process was kind of crazy to see and watch as the stone almost seemed to be soaking up the chalice's contents.
Once all the contents had soaked up into the stone Namjoon picked it up in his hand. "The stone is complete." He said as I released a breath I didn't know I had been holding.
I watched as Namjoon took out a box before opening it and taking out something that looked like a choker. It was like a thick black piece of leather or maybe velvet? He hooked the now blood red stone onto the small metal hook at the bottom, there must have been a similar hook on the stone itself.
He stood up from his desk and made his way over to me before he stood behind me. He wrapped the piece of leather material around my neck, clasping it closed. I was right, it was a choker.
"With this bloodstone I mark you as ours." He said as I just turned to look up at him, arching a brow at him.
"No one ever said I was any of yours." I told him and he smiled softly, showing off his dimples.
"It's a part of the ritual. How do you feel?" He asked me and I shrugged softly.
"I don't feel any different. Only you guys would know if there was a difference though, right?" I asked him and he looked at the others.
"Hoseok, can you read her thoughts at all?" He asked and I looked over at Hoseok to see him nod softly. "Seems like the ritual worked. Just make sure you don't take it off and you should be fine. I don't think you want to have to do that again." He told me and I shook my head softly.
How the fuck was I going to hide my thoughts from Hoseok now though? Like he was just always going to be able to hear my thoughts now, and my thoughts as of late were anything but something that he or the others should over hear.
"Is there like a range on Hoseok's ability or whatever?" I asked to no one in particular as Namjoon chuckled softly at my question.
"I've lived with this ability for years Addie, I don't always pay attention to what I hear. You're fine to think what you want." He told me as I nodded, not fully trusting him and his words. I'm just going to have to think carefully around him, I told myself.
Before Hoseok could comment on that though I touched the stone, it felt warm to the touch. "Thank you guys for this, I think I'll go back to my research for now." I told them before I went to leave but was stopped by Jin.
"Your hand, I said I would take care of it for you." He told me and I nodded softly. I had never seen his ability first hand so I was a bit intrigued.
He took the gauze off of my hand before bringing it up to his mouth. I watched as his mouth opened and his tongue slid down the slit of the cut. My eyes going slightly wide as the skin of the cut closed up soon afterwards.
As he dropped my hand I studied it. That was how his ability worked? That was kind of weird, but as I poked my hand where the cut had been I didn't get any residual pain from any of it. It really had healed.
"Thanks for healing the wound Jin." I told him and he just nodded his head softly before I stepped out of the office before going back to my room.
I picked back up the book I had been reading before, reading it for about another hour before I was grabbed for dinner. I had to keep reminding myself to not think certain things, this was going to be a bit annoying after a while.
