It's been a couple of weeks since I told Parker that I wasn't going to let him hurt me anymore, he's backed off a bit.

In the beginning, he would still try but as the days went by, I vanished from his mind. It was a bitter-sweet situation. I was happy because I wouldn't be hurt by him anymore but more upset that if he really cared about me he would have kept trying.

"Alex, you can't sit on your bed and listen to sad songs for the rest of your life," Ashley whined.

"I can try," I responded while sticking my face into my pillow.

"It's Friday night! Let's go do something fun!" Ashley was sleeping over tonight and she wouldn't leave me alone.

"Ugh, fine! Where do you want to go?" I really just wanted to get her to shut up, so I had to say yes.

"Let's go to the city, we haven't gone there in so long!" I smiled, this is the perfect way to get my mind off Parker.

My parents surprisingly allowed me to go to NYC with Ashley, I was definitely looking forward to this.  When Ashley and I were younger, our parents would take us to a hill and we could see the entire city.

That's where Ashley took me, I felt stress-free and relaxed. After high school, my plan is to move into the city and go to New York University. I loved how the city made you feel rushed and the bright lights of Times Square lit up the entire city. My parents loved the idea of me exploring the city and figuring out what I want to do in the future.

I'm so glad Ashley convinced me to go out tonight, if I had been stuck in that room thinking about Parker, I think my head would have exploded.

I never want this feeling to end.

"Thank you for bringing me out here." I hugged Ashley, I feel so much better out and free then being locked in my room miserable.

"No problem, we're best friends and I'd do anything to make you feel better, I don't like to see you sad." She gave me a small smile, "Well we have to get going." I suddenly felt sad again. I don't want to deal with drama anymore.

"Wake up, wake up, wake up!" All I felt was a pillow slamming onto my face.

"Leave me alone! All I want to do is sleep." I tried to hide my face under the covers but Ashley hadn't stopped beating me with a pillow, so I pushed her off my bed.

She glared at me, and I gave her an innocent smile. "Okay, so your mama made us breakfast and I asked her if we could go out to the mall later and of course she said yes." Of course my mom said yes to Ashley, she loves her and treats her like family.

I yawned and slowly got up from my comfortable bed.

"What time is it?" My eyes were still adjusting to the light of the sun in the room.

"It's almost 1 in the afternoon. Now get your ass up." She pulled me off the bed and pushed me towards the bathroom.

I decided to wear light blue ripped high waisted with a cute white off the shoulder top.

"You look hot!" Ashley yelled, I thanked her and dragged her out the house.

The mall was full of people. But hopefully, I won't bump into anyone that stirs up trouble.

We decided to go to the food court, and that's when I saw Parker holding hands with another girl. My heart broke into pieces. Ashley saw me freeze and instantly became furious. "I'm going to kill him." She started heading towards him but I pulled her back.
