CHAPTER 10
[ New Orleans, 2012]

"And we aren't inviting any of our actual friends and family to thanksgiving because?" Georgia glanced over her shoulder at Elijah who was adjusting his suit in the mirror.

He chuckled. "We will hold proper festivities later, my love. This is business."

"I can't eat two turkey dinners-"

Elijah grinned, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind. Georgia giggled as leaned into him, resting her head in the crook of his neck.

"You won't have to, my love. There won't be time to eat, considering the level of scheming and debauchery over the last while." He placed a sweet kiss upon her neck before adjusting her necklace: a delicate gold 'E' charm on a dainty chain.

Georgia smirked. "Ah I see, we're dining on scandal. I love it."

Downstairs, a formal dinner table had been set up in the foyer. The bar and furniture had been replaced and were now decked with fancy decanters which were full of various types of alcohol. Any flat surface was littered with plates of grapes, cheese or bread and festive wreaths hung from the balconies. Lucien was pouring himself a glass of bourbon when Tristan made his grand entrance with a bouquet of flowers in hand.

"Aw, flowers for me? You shouldn't have!" Lucien beamed as Tristan rolled his eyes. He lay the bouquet on the bar top, joining him at the bar.

"They're for the lady of the house. The well-mannered bring a gift when invited to dinner. I assume you brought nothing?" Tristan raised an eyebrow, smiling smugly.

"Nothing but my deepest respect for you."

Klaus entered the conversation as he stepped out from the dining room, dressed in a black velvet suits "Lovely. We're all getting along!"

Lucien smirked. "Mmm, like a fuse and a match."

"I take it Aurora is on her way?" Klaus asked, and at the sound of her name, aurora waltzed into the room, dressed in a vintage purple dress.

"I'm sorry I'm late. Just freshening up. I did want to look pretty." Klaus smirked at her in amusement, watching as she made a B-line for the bar. "Well, well. If it isn't my old friend Lucien."

Lucien stumbled over his words as he raked his eyes over her figure. "Hello, Aurora. It's been ages. You look..."

Klaus' eyes turned black in fury as he took auroras hand in his. "You look ravishing."

He kissed her hand, making both Lucien and Tristan uncomfortable but Tristan's focus was quickly diverted as Georgia began to descend the stairs on Elijah's arm.

"Welcome to our home! I do wish it was under better circumstances. We all face a common threat- a prophecy warning that my siblings and I would all fall within a year." He stepped off the stair case first, holding a hand out for Georgia.

"I fear my sister already has." Elijah wrapped an arm around her, guiding her towards the bar.

"Only as a precautionary measure, I assure you." Tristan smiled, lifting the bouquet and holding them out to Georgia. "For the lady of the house."

"Thank you Tristan." Georgia smiled, stepping away from Elijah. She unwrapped the flowers and distributed them into a vase. Lucien tried his best not to laugh at Tristan's awkwardness.

Elijah rolled his eyes at the gesture, once again wrapping his arm around Georgia once she had finished. "Interesting. You see, I would have called it an entirely unnecessary measure. We need to unite to prevent the prophecy from coming to pass. And, since any alliance is impossible without honesty..."
