CHAPTER 14
[ New Orleans, 2012 ]

Georgia was stood proudly by the Christmas tree, watching as Elijah placed a large and carefully wrapped gift under the tree. They had spent weeks deciding what they would give to hope and ultimately decided on a small tricycle that Georgia had fallen in love with on one of their early morning walks through the quarter. It was tiny and pink, with mint green handles and purple wheels. She was far too small to ride it but Georgia was happy enough to push her around the compound on it until she could. Elijah traced his finger over the gift tag, smiling to himself.

He stood, lovingly pulling Georgia into his side and placing a long kiss upon her temple. Georgia grinned. "Do you think she will like it?"

Elijah smiled, rubbing her hip gently. "Of course she will. If not I am sure you could take it for a spin."

Georgia laughed, taking a glass of wine from Cami. "I'm so glad you're here with us."

She had been living at the compound since her run in with Aurora. Klaus was too petrified to let her out of his sight. Georgia and Elijah had been secretly making bets on when one of them would finally make a move and Georgia was convinced tonight was the night.

"I am too." Cami grinned, glancing over her shoulder at Klaus. Elijah glanced down at Georgia, smirking causing her to giggle.

"Well I made sure to hang plenty of mistletoe-" Cami erupted in laughter, slapping Georgias arm gently.

Elijah nudged Georgia, nodding his head in the direction of the door where Davina stood awkwardly, a small gift in hand. Georgia passed him her wine glass as she rushed toward her sister, pulling her in for a hug. "Vina you made it."

Davina smiled, hugging her back. "I've been thinking about it all day and, I thought why not - I think it would make Kol happy."

Elijah appeared behind them, wrapping an arm around Georgia. "Kol would be proud of you, Davina."

Georgia couldn't help but smile from ear to ear as Davina pulled Elijah in for a hug. This was all that she had ever wanted.

"This is for you." Davina smiled, pulling away from the hug. "Georgia and I exchanged gifts this morning and I- I was going to give it to her to give to you but I guess a part of me knew I was coming."

Elijah glanced down at the gift, a wide smile adorning his face. "Thank you Davina."

"It's a-" she grinned, glancing between the two of them. "It's a thank you for making my sister so happy. I haven't seen her smile as much as she has in the past year."

Georgia glanced up at him, a small blush prominent upon her cheeks. She turned back to Davina, taking her hand. "Come sit with us."

Cami rushed towards Davina, enveloping her in a hug. Georgia watched as they spoke, resting the back of her head upon Elijah's shoulder. "That was a big thing... I didn't think I'd ever see the day."

Elijah snaked his arm around her waist, resting his hand upon her stomach. "Christmas always has a wonderful way of bringing people together, and this is our first of many."

"Can you believe it's almost been a year?" She turned in his arms, looking up at him. "365 days of us."

"The best and brightest year of my life." He grinned, tracing patterns on her lower back.

Georgia erupted in giggles. "Hey that's a big statement, you're telling me out of your 1000 + years of life, this one was the best?"

"By a mile." He grinned, kissing her. In her embrace the world stopped still on its axis. There was no time, no sound, no disturbances. Elijah's mind was at peace. He was eternally grateful for her love and what it was. Pure. Unselfish. Undemanding. Free. He felt her body press in, soft and warm. This was the love he'd waited a millennium for, prayed for. A love like this was to be cherished for life. Finally, He was home.
