CHAPTER 3
[ New Orleans, 2012 ]Hayley made her way down the steps, holding hope close and promising she'd never let her go. Klaus quickly followed behind her. Jackson rushed towards them, pulling Hayley and Hope into a hug. "What happened? Is the curse broken?"
"I'll explain later. We're safe... for now." She shook her head, sighing.
Klaus smiled awkwardly. "Good for you. I'll have your bedroom made up."
"The only way that I will stay under your roof is if I'm in a coffin." She scoffed, glaring at him.
"If you think I will allow Hope out of my protection for a second-" Klaus chuckled, before he was cut off.
"What you'll allow doesn't matter, Klaus. Welcome to a 21st century custody battle. Moms win them now." Hayley spat. Georgia looked up at Elijah, begging him to intervene before another fight broke out.
"If I may? The apartments across the street have recently been renovated. I might pay a visit to the management." He stepped forward, turning to a visibly unhappy Klaus. "The fact that Hope will never be out of earshot should assuage your incessant paranoia."
Klaus scoffed. "So we are to listen as my daughter is raised by savages?"
"Because everyone here is so civilized?" Jackson rolled his eyes.
"Brother." Elijah glared at klaus. "you created the problem. This might well be the solution."
Hayley looked between them, nodding. "Put the place in Jackson's name. Klaus won't be invited in."
Klaus' face constricted in anger as he made his way up to his room. Georgia sat upon the couch, suddenly feeling light headed.
"My love, are you alright?" Elijah bounced towards her, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"Yeah I'm just a little lightheaded" she looked up at him, unable to hide the discomfort she was feeling, his features drowning in worry.
"Hey, I'm sorry about - throwing you across the room and all" Hayley shifted anxiously.
Georgia shook her head, screwing her face up in pain. "It's okay"
"You do not look okay." Elijah placed a hand on the back of her head. His eyes widening as his hand pooled with blood. "You are injured. Hayley if you would excuse for me a moment and i will be right over to get that apartment for you all"
Hayley nodded, watching as Elijah picked Georgia up bridal style and carried her upstairs. She tried to ignore the uncomfortable feeling in her chest but it proved difficult as she headed towards the lounge with Jackson following quickly behind her.
Elijah lay Georgia down on their bed.
"Im going to cover the place in blood, Lijah" she shook her head. attempting to sit up but he quickly dismissed her complaints.
"I will clean it and have fresh sheets by this afternoon, now come here." He wrapped an arm around her, pulling her back into his chest as he bit into his wrist and held it to her lips. She drank from him, her eyes rolling back into her head as the pain disappeared. Elijah rubbed her side soothingly, watching as the gash on the back of her head vanished.
She pulled away. "Thank you."
"Always, my love" he wiped the blood from her lips with his pocket square. "You will need to wash up and then i recommend a good sleep"
"You should have been a doctor" she laughed softly, pecking his lips.
"And then when you wake, you can tell of your intervention with Davina." He watched as her face fell, his gut feeling proving that things hadn't went according to plan.
