CHAPTER 15
[ New Orleans, 2012 ]While Christmas was perfect, the festivities and delight didn't carry on past midnight. Georgia had been correct, Christmas was the night when Klaus and Cami would finally admit their feelings for one another, but it wasn't the joyous occasion it was anticipated to be.
Aurora had employed a safeguard, so that her heartache, that she had suffered for the last millennium would reverberate upon everyone that Klaus held dear. She had compelled Cami to drink a vial of her blood and slit her throat the very moment she knew that Klaus was in love with her. The house was shook the next morning by the sound of Klaus' cries.
Elijah had returned from an errand later in the morning to find a solemn Georgia curled up on the couch as Klaus paced the study anxiously. He stripped off his coat, looking at his brother with concern. "How is she?"
"She has just risen from the dead. As soon as she feeds, her mood will change for the better." Klaus stepped toward him, his tone furious as he changed the subject. "In the meantime, these attacks need to be answered! Our retribution must be swift, and it must be brutal!"
Elijah nodded, glancing toward Georgia. "Agreed. After the Serratura has been recovered."
Georgia sat up, looking between them. "Freya's pendant is missing as well."
"And Finn's mystical essence along with it. So let the imbecile stay lost! Our business for today is to finish off the de Martels!" Klaus rolled his eyes, continuing his pacing.
"Now, brother, think. Think. Tristan needs the most powerful witch in the city to activate that weapon. A Regent." Elijah looked at him, remaining calm as he placed a comforting hand on his brother's shoulder.
"Vincent." Klaus sneered, rushing toward the door. "Who was once possessed by Finn-"
Elijah grabbed his arm. "Stay here. She'll need you, brother."
Georgia stood, beginning to reach for her phone when Elijah stopped her. "You must stay here as well."
"-lijah. This is witch business." She looked up at him as he cupped her cheeks.
"I will not risk it, they are playing dirty."
Georgia sighed irritably. "How many times are we going to have this conversation?-"
"Someone must stay and look after hope and Camille needs you as well. If I need your help I promise to call." He kissed her head before bouncing out of the room.
"He's vexatious, but my brother is right Georgia." Klaus sighed, resting a hand on her shoulder.
"I just feel like a liability." She looked up at him. Klaus sat on the coffee table, gently pulling her down with him. She curled up on the couch, looking at him. "I only took Tristan's deal so that I could finally be more than just a breakable object to him..."
"I once believed you were a liability. I now know you are more than capable of handling yourself but what kind of a man would he be if he put you in harms way? It is his nature to protect, it's his way of showing love, little witch." Klaus smiled, squeezing her shoulder. "Now I am off to protect the woman I love, take care of my littlest wolf?"
Georgia smiled at his open declaration of love. "Of course."
Klaus left the room and Georgia followed shortly after as she headed towards the nursery. She sat on the rocking chair and fiddled with her new ring as Hope slept. Jackson and Hayley were in the bayou, Georgia had offered to give them a much needed day of respite and rest. However she had expected today to be much calmer. She flicked through hopes story books, sick to her stomach with worry.
